Nice to meet some more of you yesterday. I have checked some of the Bronco II groups that I go online with don't do anything.
Anyway cutting to the chase,
As I had told some of you yesterday I got in a cramp for time so I took the KJ somewhere to have the trans serviced with me supplying the fluid/filter. After pulling the pan was I told Auto Zone gave me the wrong filter kit. Took it back this morning in hopes of getting the right one but no luck. I even tried one for a 2wd but no luck.
The one that is on it is kinda small and rectangular looking not like the one they gave me shaped like one of the Great Lakes.
How many transmissions do they make and how do I find out using VIN# what I have?
Couldn't find an ID plate under the hood like the other other parts of the Big III have.

Also Sharon noticed a difference in shifting both up and down. what I experienced was a hard downshift with OD on. Hard to tell exactly for me but she drives it more.

There are 2 transmissions, the 42RLE and the 45RFE. On the 42RLE the identification label is affixed to the upper left side of the bell housing, it is partially visible from the engine compartment, the 45RFE label is affixed to the left side of the case above the oil pan. I had the 42RLE, to service the 45RFE you need a special wrench for the additional coolant return filter. Joe :D

I would imagine by coolant return filter you mean the one that looks
like a filter for an Onan generator. I did also find out today in the light the
but heads overfilled it quite a bit which I figured since I started with 7 Qts
which they used 6 of. I talked to the manager today and voiced my opinion
of the work, the price, and how much it was overfilled and that for the second
time there was grease everywhere. He's going to take care of it hopefully tomorrow.
