I have about a month off before I head overseas. Anybody up for a trip to the Pine Barrens? I'm free pretty much any day in March.

From talking with people who have gone before, I've found that going down RT. 542 until Batsto Quaker Bridge Road is a good place to start. I'm still not sure of a good meeting point, though. Suggestions?

The Pine Barrens is a huge piece of land. Specifically we're talking about Wharton State Forest.

I plan on avoiding the parkway. Are you talking about Atsion Ranger Station?

Previously, groups have met up at the Wharton ranger building.

Address for spot I posted... 31 Batsto Road Hammonton, NJ 08037
Batsto Office: (609) 561-0024

is the main office for the actual park in its entirety located in Batso Village

I believe that the Atsion Office: (609) 268-0444 is more of a substation meant primarily for the administration of the Atsion camping areas

I'll just throw this up and if it doesn't work for anybody, let me know and we'll go from there.

Date: Saturday, 28 March 2009
Time: 10:00 A.M.
Location: Atsion Ranger Station

Apparently just north of the Atsion Ranger Station is a trail entrance. Can anybody verify this?

Yes, it's called Quaker Bridge RD. Runs from Atsion to Batsto and has numerous trails branching off of it.
