That is up to you... FRS are cheaper and faster to install and use, but I would recommend some form of cb or frs to have... i know i have a few extra frs radios, but can not guarantee that everyone will have extra or that I will be able to lend you one...

Cell signal is good in centralia, when i was there in May, i had no issues with loss of signal, in fact, the one guy i was with there, he was using the cellular internet on his phone to use google maps...

Hey everyone!

I've been to Centralia after almost every Rausch Run with my xterra buddies. As far as finding it on a gps, there's no longer a zip code for Centralia so nothing pops up. Libs will definitely make it on all the trails. If you are going to ask any locals about anything in the area your best bet is going to be asking the younger crowd (ie 20 somethings) they have around the area and are more willing to talk about the area. The older folks see the fire as a tragedy and don't like talking about it. There's usually an older (grandpa age) fella walking around near the cemetery up on the hill, he is... well rude to say the least.

I hope ya all have fun. You should try to do a trip up there when there's snow on the ground. It makes the old highway so much cooler.

(here's some pics from my trips up there)

ATTENTION TO EVERYONE ON THE TRIP: IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE BLOOMSBURG/ WILLIAMSPORT/ NORTH WESTERN, PA/ OR EVEN WEST PA OR ANYWHERE NORTH.

I am meeting another member at a sunnoco in Bloomsburg. If anyone wants to meet here instead of going past centralia to the meeting point and then heading back to Centralia, we will be meeting there at 1130 and leaving at 1145 (if you can make it to this point but not by 1145 PM me and we can establish a time that you might be there tomorrow).

I second this and think it is a good idea.... in addition, when you get to centralia, there is a parking area across from the northern side of the closed section of road from the fire. We will all meet up there... If you have not done so, a few posts back I gave my cell number, I am looking to leave my meeting area about 1200 and getting to centralia about 1230. call me if you cant find the area I am talking about. I have a few google print outs in the jeep, I can try and talk you to where I am talking about. See you all there in a few hours...
