Since it's now only about a week away, I thought it was time to get all the details ironed out. Here goes. We'll all meet at the Sheetz in Harrisonburg at around 10 am on Saturday the 16th. For those coming from the north that morning, we can meet at Mickey D's off exit 47A from I-66 in Manassas, Va around 7 am and convoy down after breakfast. As far as the picnic lunch we need to know definitely who will be coming and what they will be bringing for lunch. So far to the best of my knowledge we have: WVjeepcsine: grill speleorelic: burgers (and buns?) ltwgs: beverages (and cups?) Talon: ? chefdab: ? (I don't know yet what I'm bringing) uvalax236: ? JeepinAl: ? jeepgirl: ? (may or may not come) Anyone else that wants to come, chime in now and tell us what you'll be bringing for our picnic. Those that already said they were coming, please confirm your intentions and what food you're bringing. Come on everybody, join the fun. The more, the merrier. There will be plenty of trail for stock and modified and a great picnic lunch. I know I posted this on the old board but I wanted to make sure everybody saw it. If you don't mind posting twice, just paste your reply over here as well. |

Sheetz at 10 sounds good for me. The only thing I would like to add is that I will need to drop off my camper at the Brandywine Campground(which is near the trail head) . I talked to them yesterday and there is a group camp area where I can leave the camper for the day till we're done. Should only take a few minutes to unhook and register. Thanks george |

My plan is to meet up with everyone at sheets on Saturday morning at 10. Then, on the drive to the trail down 33, proceed on Westward past the trail to Brandywine Campground. The campground is only a short distance from the trail, 10 miles or so. It has showers and toilets and I can leave my pop-up camper there all day till we get back off the mountain. concievably, any one of us could leave our camping gear there through out the day. I will drop off my camper at the group camp area, then return to the trail. Whether everyone follows me to the campground(might be nice to check it out) or waits at the trail head, would be their choice. I would only be gone about a half hour, so it might be better if we all stayed together. Nothing like seeing a line of liberty's coming, lol. As for the picnic, unless we get some commitments on the rest of the food, it won't do much good to bring burgers. Yes, buns will be included. We have 8 jeeps on the list, and only burgers, drinks and a grill Hey Chris, you'll have the grill,, will you have the grilling implements?? spatula, tongs, fork? Aluminum foil for the grill? Other items that might be brought: chips, potato salad, beans, cole slaw, mac salad pickles-tomatos-lettuce-onions- ketchup/mustard/mayo ice paper plates/utensiles/napkins(maybe the paper cup guy can cover this?) hotdogs/buns DESERT? cookies/brownies did I mention desert? get muddy George |

There are individual camp sites, and there is a group camp site. But there are reservations,, it's first come, first serve. I called the ranger district to get the info |

We`ll bring brownies and a cold salad of some sort. Trust me, Wendy`s brownies alone will be worth the trip! Mike |

OK, Richard, you bring hotdogs and buns. I'll bring paper plates, utensils, ketchup, mustard and mayo and some potato chips. Al, you might want to consider bringing macaroni or potato salad. I checked the long range forecast, and at this point they are calling for a 30% chance of showers both Saturday and Sunday. I hope we don't get rained out for the picnic. That would suck. |

As part of the "drinks" option, I'll bring cups and ice. If reservations are out of the question, Lori and I will set up camp the old school way. There's a reason the back seats fold forward BTW, we'll be at the Mickie Dee's linkup on Exit 47... Grant |

Exactly, Jenn, that was my impression. I also recall that, on some of the trails that Mike and I checked, there were a couple of sweet spots close to creeks and such... All we need now is OFF! Grant |
