I'll be moving back to NOVA in two months and I'd really like to get a new muffler (Delta Flow 40 or 50 SUV, conflicting info on the board has me going back and forth), I'm just worried that there might be some sort of restriction on aftermarket mufflers. Any info would be great! |

As far as inspection is concerned, no. As long as it does not leak - you're golden. In Va, it's up to an officer to determine if it's too loud. |

Im running a Flowy 40 series Delta Flow on my KJ and I have driven right next to cops. They have never given me a hard time at all about it. I am planning to get the JBA Headers and replace my stock cats with Magnaflow cats. It may be a little louder then Oh and another great thing....NO EMISSION TESTING! |

They probably couldn't even hear the exaust over the bass from your subs! That's good news, thanks y'all... Not to hijack my own thread, but how is the interior noise with the 40. My tires hum a little so some interior noise is alright. I'm just concerned that the 40 might be too much. |

It gets loud around 2200-2500 rpm's. Even with the subs, BFG MT's, and no wheel liners, its still loud. However, I do want it louder! |

I think that answers it for me |

Well, before you go and order the 50 series, I will be more than happy to take you for a ride in my KJ so you can hear the 40 series. When do you plan to move to Virginia? |

Thanks for the offer!!! but I won't be in VA 'till mid July and I'd like to get that piece on before I drive 3,000 miles. I don't really want to hear it inside because on a 15 hour drive, I like to roll the windows up from time to time and enjoy the quiet for a while. I get the feeling you'd try and convince me to go with the 40 if you could |

Sorry, I'm a bit late on this topic. The only VA inspection points are that, if your vehicle came with a cat, it must still be on there. And there has to be a muffler of some type. No specific regulation on the actual muffler. My friend has a bypass on his Formula, controlled from inside the car and he passes. I don't know how that thing passes tests...it's a 1/4 mile drag car with turn signals and wrinkle-walls that have "tread" on them. In other words, someone took slicks and dragged their fingernail down them in zig-zag patterns. As bad as people harp on VA vehicle regs, you can get away with a LOT! I rode next to, behind, and in front of Richard's (UVALAX's) truck on the cruise down to Charlotte and the noise was no problem from my outside perspective. I don't think his truck was ever louder than Mike's and my CRDs. I think Richard probably gets more noise in his cabin because the wheel-well liners are gone than he does because he has the 40 series -vs- the 50 series. However, some people think the CRD is loud (shrug). |

Vascillating again! Maybe I should go with the 40 and get some ear plugs! As for the inspections, they probably do much more good than we like to give them credit for. I don't know about you, but I find it comforting to know that most of the cars on the road have working brakes, lights, horns, etc... You should see the p.o.s's driving around the highways out here |

Just got off the phone with Flowmaster tech help who told me definitatively NOT to get the 40... Said it's not made for the 6 cyl. His recommendation was the Deltaflow 50 (not SUV). Just to be sure, we need 2.5 centered in/offset out right? |
