I have some general opinion questions I wanted to run by the local folks before I post elsewhere. Here they are...

1. I have an AEM Brute Force cold air intake. I'll post a pic late rif needed. Is this thing going to screw me in the water? The K&N cone sits about 4 inches above the passenger side wheel well/strut mount.

2. Do I need a battery tie-down for Paragon and/or other offroading adventures? The stock battery has a small tie-down at the bottom, but nothing like the tie-downs I needed when racing my stratus. I also see no posts anywhere about tie-downs.

3. Is there a preference to the tow-strap I get? I read somewhere that metal hooks are bad and the loop-end nylon straps are better. any comments?

4. Can anyone reccomend a orange saftey flag solution? I can't find one any any auto stores near me.

5. How important is the breather tube extending for a 5-spd manual?

I think that's it. thanks peoples.

Keep your stock airbox. I use my CAI for driving around and going to events but use the stock airbox for wheeling.

When I went to Paragon, I didnt have any alterations to the battery at all (from stock).

Metal hooks = bad. Go to Tractor Supply Company and get a strap on the cheap.

Paragon or any OHV park sells them if required.

I havent extended the breathers for any of my components. I have done some deep water crossings and no issues since then. I would recomend extending them though.

(1) You won't need to worry about water to much at Paragon. They have a little bit of water to play in but nothing deep enough to affect you if you go slow. Also the vent tubes: I have had my Libby almost floating and never made any adjustment to their length.

(2) The factory tie-down, as long as you have not removed it or upgraded to a bigger battery, will do just fine.

(3) No metal hook tow straps are allowed at Paragon.

(4) Like Richard said you can buy it at Paragon (I think it is $5 for the window flag.

Recovery points are mandatory for the park. You need at least one up front and one in the rear. I use a shackel attached to the hitch since I did not have a rear tow hook due to having a hitch. You can find these at most 4WD shops and tractor supply stores.Shackel

As long as you can tow from them, they will work.

I think you also need a rear recovery point

Found some good info from the Paragon website

Quote:
All SUV/4x4 must have at least one tow point (example: tow hook or receiver hitch). Front and rear tow points are mandatory for trails rated 3 and above.

You will not be on a level 3 trail so you will be fine.

Thanks Chris.

The first point of failure on those things in the Jeep. The frame will rip before they break.

That's not a bad idea at all!

The AEM is shaped a bit different, but it might still work.

I have to try that.
