With the problems I've been having, I think your assessment should be correct. Actually, it sounds like a great protocol to begin. Maybe it would help me justify my work and decisions. Ha ha (I hope)

Dean.

layback40: I'm glad you've been inspired with my efforts. I'm glad to share them.

Everyone else: Can't find the 'tune to delete the Glow Plug part of the ECM programming. I've seen it here someplace but so far I haven't had any luck finding it again. Anyone know where it is?

I checked my glow plug wiring and it all seems sound. Next I'll have to check voltages coming to the Glowplug Control Unit (GCU). Last weekend I had to rebuild a door in our bathroom. darn Termites! This next weekend is coming soon...

Searched real good using all search functions, even did a Global Search with no hits either.

LOSTJeeps Site tool:> "put-search-text-here between quote marks" site:www.lostjeeps.com/forum/

Reach out to Marco (Yeti), bet he could help you with this.
He can also be Messaged over on FaceBook, search for "Yeti Chip Tuning"

Thanks WWDiesel,

I sent Yeti a message through Facebook IM and he asked for the Glow Plug Control Module number. I replied with the number from the Bosch GCM 0 281 003 034. Also sent my Engine Control Unit number.

It's Friday night already so I don't know if he operates after hours.

Yeti wants a copy of my ECU software so he can determine how to delete the Glow Plug software. Attempted to download the ECU software to the laptop via MPPS program but it did not work. It could not find the ECU. So, plan B is to simply fix the glow plug system on the Jeep.

The main DTCs for the Glowplug Control Unit (GCU) was low voltage on 3 of 4 glow plug wires. I found 3.5v on the Glow Plug Control Unit pin 11, where there should be 12v. The likely suspect is splice S123 in the starting circuitry. So, instead of digging into the wire harness (which is behind and under the power brakes vacuum unit) I ran a new wire to pin 11.

I'll find out if the Jeep goes into Limp-in mode again over the weekend or during the week. The low voltage DTCs are gone now, but still have a GCU Malfunction code P0670.

When someone else needs to find the pin numbers for the Glow Plug control module, here they are. I PhotoShop'd the numbers on the pictures to match the Field Service wiring diagram numbers.

I still want delete the Glow Plug software and the EGR system.

The beast went into Limp-in mode after idling for about 15 minutes. Got diagnostic code P0299: Turbo under pressure, Turbo pressure sensor malfunction, Low oil pressure. Erased the codes and P0299 went away, along with Limp-in mode.

I'm starting to think that some damage occurred when my PCV hose kinked and pushed my oil out of the front seal. So, for now I'll simply avoid idling very long.

Dean.
