I'm about 500 miles from a oil change in my KJ. When I bought it (2 months ago) it was about 500 miles over due for an oil change. I changed it asap and in a hurry just bought some Valvoline Max Life because my KJ has almost 85k and Max Life is supposed to be for 75k and over engines. I also swapped to a FRAM High Mileage filter too. I've been thinking about going to Full Synthetic this time so I can go longer on a change, any suggestions on brands or types for oil and filters?

Also what other liquids should I change regularly in my KJ?

Absolutely go to all synthetic oil. Depends on how long you want to go between changes as to which one to choose, and which filter to choose. I am still old-school and change every 3-4k even using full synthetic. It is always black when I change it, so i figure it was time. I have used synthetic every change since I got it new. I've used several brands. They all seem to be good for my purposes - Mobile 1, Penzoil Platimun, Quaker State.

Other fluids:

Front and Rear Diff
Trans Fluid,
Transfer Case,

I just went to Amsoil in my diff. Send JJsKJ a PM for a low-cost quote for any Amsoil products. He's a dealer that helps us all out around here.

Well I've been told if I use full synthetic I can run about 7k before I need to change is this accurate?

If you're only going to leave the oil in for 3-4K the oil filter you use is probably more important than the oil, and the Fram filters are junk. I use Amsoil or Purolator filters, good dino oil, and change my oil frequently (synthetic oil is a waste for me, since between wheeling and towing I need to change the oil often).

Where does everyone pick up the Purolator filters?

Or longer, depending on your driving habits. Synthetic oils will last many more miles than that in typical conditions, and as I implied earlier just make sure the filter is up to the task of removing particulates for that long.

The pamphlet i have says "AMSOIL synthetic motor oils are formulated so well, they can be used for 25,000 miles, even more with oil analysis. AMSOIL motor oils can significantly increase MPG and reduce maintenance costs."

Same here. I can get RP 75W140 for half the cost of Mobile1, and when changing the diff fluid after every wheeling trip that adds up to a lot of savings.

Well having 85k already on your KJ and if it has used "whatever" oil(whatever the place that changed it had) and want to switch to full synthetic just be warned that by doing so can(not always)make leaks appear.Full synthetic oil by nature has more detergents in them to keep things cleaner, this after time(a few normal interval oil changes) cleans all the built up sledge that have been preventing leaks. Also when switching to full synthetic at higher miles you will want to change the oil and filter at normal intervals for at least 3-4 oil changes since it will clean up the inside of you engine better and that sludge will end up in the oil filter.

I have run synthetic oil since 500 miles. If you plan on going over 5000miles on the oil get a oil analysis done before going over 5000miles,just to be sure.

Alright someone just tell me what to do lol

Should I go synthetic or not at 85k?

What Brand should I get?

What Brand Filter Should I use?

How often should I change if I use synthetic?

Should I change more than just my motor oil?

If so what should I change?

What brands should I use on things other than motor oil?

What weights are needed for these?
