God I love that arm!!

Seriously tho, it takes 10 minutes from the point where the jack first touchs the jeep till it's back on the ground to disconnect and reconnect the arm.

I've never replaced the ubj before but I've read horror stories about needing rachet straps to reconnect the ubj to the bracket and pry bars to get it out.

If I ever need to service this guy, 10 minutes and bam it's done. 12 minutes to take the whole arm out.

Here is the update for the new bracket.

I am just waiting to decide on how to proceed. Whether IRO will provide test brackets, which will probably be a lot cheaper than if I cut them (91 dollars CAD at the store, no money in my pocket) or what... It's coming and I can't get enough wheeling in. I purposely drive over curbs and pot holes and whatever else I can find when I'm on the street.

Enough yaking:

10 minutes is all it takes to replace a regular stock tri-link
Those that take forever with rachet straps are also those that take 2-3 days to do a lift
Its really easy , on mine or any lifted there isn't even any jacks etc involved just roll under and replace the tri-link

Yes, true, but there isn't any need for a press here.

I know that my factory boomerang in its current condition, wouldn't survive a press job, it is toast. It would crumple up into tiny little bits.

Tom, i think hes saying that his bushings and/or the ball joint on the original link was bad. His wasnt gonna hold up to the press due to the condition of the upper link.

One of my WJ friends just upgraded and he loved his IRO arm, but hes dropping d60s under it now, so i might be able to talk him out of it.

Cheers to it being Friday!!

I am referring to replacing the nylon inserts vs the physical pressing in and pressing out of the upper bj. My boomerang, the only thing holding it together was the rust.

I can do everything I gotta do with a little Allen key.

Okay so...

I am making a bracket to destroy it.

I wanna hear some ideas.

I am thinking of hooking it up between two tow trucks and seeing what happens.

Likewise I wanna see exactly what it's going to take to break this thing.

They are building a toll highway up the street from me and I want to ask their heavy equipment guys to do what they do best.

And you KNOW I will post the vid up here.

Can I get a yay or nay from people that wanna see this?

Only if its mounted to a 8.25 (which is connected to a D 9,)
then your new tri link attached to the 8.25 with your new bracket, which all of that is then hooked to another D 9
Now we are talking a bag of popcorn and 6 pack Friday night  :pepper:

Just your new bracket would be no fun at all

I'm pretty sure that if were talking d9 bulldozers we'd be looking metal failure.

What I want to see, is where, if at all, the bracket will show signs off stress when being subject to unrealistic amounts of load.

What I could do, is create a hitch mounted replica of the top of the 8.25 pumpkin, now that I know the measurements.

Mount the bracket in a hitch.

Place a d ring through the upper bolt hole, and pull like doo doo... Let's see what happens.

Have to find the weakest link that would test the bracket
My testing has revealed that I can snap two of the three bolts off that hold the bracket on the rear diff
It took some doing but I managed to do it
Thats real world testing :ROTFL:

You see tho, that doesn't indicate a bracket failure. Not sure how to word this. It doesn't matter what you've got, if the bolt breaks, the bolt breaks. Could have broken with the bj mount too! But in that instance... I'm sure the bj would have let go first.

I am feeling another revision coming along. Maybe I'll wrap all the way around pumpkin and into the diff cover bolts.

Hang tight boys.

*i've got the itch again*

I forgot to mention that if the end user was planning on doing heavy rediculous wheeling...

The edges of the bracket contact the pumpkin on all four corners and one full side. Making it a prime candidate for welding. The pumpkin is cast steel, cast steel welds normally.

Break all the bolts you want.

This omits the need for the bracket adapter y-link extension thing that JBA sells for the 4" lift? If so, I'm in for one if you start selling, or if one of the other manufacturers gets on this.

Update:

I'm waiting on IRO. They're r and d is quite busy from what I hear.

They have copies of the appropriate files to make what I made.

I currently have 500km's on the latest version.

I am willing to fabricate and sell, but I need to seek legal advice on the liability side of marketing such a product.

Like if I say it's for offroad only, and somebody gets hurt on road, am I liable?

Side note: it's funny how gun and Tabbacco companies never get sued for making things that are intended to kill people. . Just saying

You do know that's why there's anti-tobacco commercials on tv and ads in periodicals, right? Big tobacco did get sued and lost...big time. They have to fund all the anti tobacco stuff as part of the ruling...since any fine you could levy would be a drop in the bucket.

This I did not know.

Did some more research.

In order to operate without the fear of personal liability I would need to open a corporation. Meaning share holders etc etc etc.

I think down south you can have an llc, not here tho.

If I do find time for monstrosity of a responsibility being the CEO lol lol lol...

You'd better believe I'd be making sfa kits and tone ring adapters for dana 60's, and a whole plethora of interesting and wild fab type stuff.

But, sorry guys, I don't have time for this. You have a business and want me to design something for you, no problem. But it's starting to look like a pipe dream.
