You should come up with some "Rock Lizard" stickers so your customers can represent. And advertising for yourself.

These covers are massive and really nicely built! With the exception of having to bent in the bearing locking tabs in about a 1/16" inward these covers are a perfect fit,all the bolt holes lined up perfectly.Be prepared though it is a heavy cover so get them bolts threaded fast! The clearance between the cover and gas tank skid is almost 3"(with the 18.5 gallon tank, will be a little less with the larger tanks but should still have plenty of room),if you have the borla duel exhaust you still have about 5/8" off clearance between the pipe and cover(even flexing will not reduce this clearance). These covers are so awsomely overkill like RockLizard says you will destroy the axle before this cover.

Marty,

I'll pay for mine at the same time as the rear bumper. Went to Winter Park for some mountain biking this weekend so I wasn't able to make it down that way this weekend.

This is one sweet heavy duty looking motherfreaking differential cover, can’t wait to get mine. I’ll pay soon along with the RL Super Sliders. I agree on the sticker think, we’ll help you represent especially with those good prices. I’ve say you call it “Rock Lizards Bomb Differential Cover”

no no no no ... sticker would be TERRIBLE...that needs to be etched, stamped, or engraved into it....think about what the diff cover is designed for, then think about putting a sticker on it....

also i believe its called the "tortoise"

Question for Rock Lizard...

I like the nice thick cover for rock armor purposes, and I like the drain plug for situations like trailside fluid changes after a river crossing, etc. But how do you get the metallic sludge off the factory differential housing magnet through that little drain hole? Did you remove your housing magnet and add a magnetic drain plug?
Id hope that people aren't so lazy that they are only buying a drain cover so they don't have to scape silicone every 12k miles. Part of the regular service is visually inspecting your gears and cleaning the magnet. If you aren't going to clean the metal off the magnet, you may as well dump your old fluid back in after you drain it.

Page 3, Post 4, I said the same thing about a drain plug not getting all the garbage out, and it is not too hard to take the cover off, inspect, clean, spary out with a little brake cleaner, wipe it out, RTV, and put cover back on. But most people wanted a drain plug, so I went with the customers' suggestions. Just because you have a drain plug, doesn't mean you don't have to take the whole cover off and do a thorough cleanup/inspection. I personally will take the cover off each time, but I wheel a lot and pretty hard. I guess one could look at it as why have drain plugs on the oil pan, TCase, and tranny, when it would be better to take the pan off and clean out the sludge everytime and inspect the internals. Maybe with a drain plug, one would be more likely change the fluid more often like the engine which would keep the internals cleaner and less buildup would occur?

i can give you one HUGE reason on the drain plugs (which i think is why its there in the first place)

you can DRAIN all the fluid before taking the covers off....a straight line to drip all the oils out...and then take off the cover, and not worry about the mess everywhere
