So you have a 2002? If so then this all makes alot more sense and you do have some sag.
All Im trying to say is the 7/16 spacer may push the suspension down to much and allow the upper ball joint to hit the spring when the jeep is off the ground. The strut is all that keeps this from happening but the cleavis lift allows it to droop more than the strut would.
no its an '03
if i jack it up until the wheel leaves the ground and still have lots o clearance then i should be good to go?
or should i quit being so tight and just get new springs and struts?
No, its not being tight. This is a really good way to fix the problem that you have. I was searching around and found this:

The guy said he pulled it up 5/8in and still had some strut sticking out the bottom of the clevis? Theres no way, mine is pulled up about an 1/8in and mine isnt sticking out.
If you do try it, watch the upper balljoint and do not let it hit that spring. It doesnt need to hit it hard to tare the boot, then its over and will cost alot to replace that arm(you cannot replace just the joint). If you look at mine you will notice the spring is turned just right to where the boot wouldnt hit it even if it could.

Good luck!
