Personally I would use the heat gun. My experience is that the rubbing in the front has always been pretty minimal, but that's just me. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, the windshield washer bottle is right behind there on the passenger side. Wouldn't want to cut into that!

ok thanks...so far i have really only heard the rubbing in the front left but i will do more testing tommorrow to see.

Take a good look at the plastic wheel liner. You will be able to see where the tires scrape.
