You'll still have a gap on the fenders since they are different also, and you'll have to modify the rear bottoms of the front flares due to that being differnt also.

Wait, are the bumpers the SAME for the '02-4 and the '05-7?
I think TR's are the same for all years.

0311-DOC: Depending on what you do, if you choose not to scrap the front bumper I will buy it off you. My is getting pretty chipped, any other parts as well for the front end. Thanks, Donnie.

The turn signal is surrounded by the "flare". This is held in place by a screw in the turn signal nearest the grill, a "hook" that connects the top flare to the bottom flare, and a rivet that connects the bottom flare to the wheel liner. I have pretty much the same set-up as the above picture and it has held up pretty well. For me, it is not solid, but good enough due to the fact that I trimmed the wheel liner without foreseeing this potential problem.

On a side note, about a year and a half ago, I tried to get a firm yes or no from Trailready on whether they made changes to the bumper for the '05 models but they never commited to a straight answer and would not send any pics so I decided to make my own. I say this to let you know that if no changes were made to the bumper for the '05 and later models, they are being less than ethical unless they told you specifically that it would take some fab work. I've daydreamed about this bumper for a while for my own '05 and what I see is that you will have a half of your foglight covered by the bumper and your turn signal may sit to low to clear the top of the Trailready. I am hoping that this is not the case. Otherwise, you either need to get an 02 grill to hide the hole for the OEM fogs, an 02 fender or you will have a gap where the turn signal used to be, and an 02 flare to fit the 02 fender. It's a sweeta$$ bumper but there was just too much modding to make it right for me. I truly hope that they've upgraded their bumper to make it work on the 05's .

tjkj2002 pretty much said the same thing, just in much less words.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Man, I hope that isn't the case. I will be really upset, if I got hosed. that bumper has already cost me a ton, and if i have to buy or find older parts to mod or make it work, that is just plain wrong. I don't know what I will do yet. If I was screwed by them, then I will just send it back....

This the email they sent me back in July, So how does this sound for ethical???

We have a front and rear bumper available for the 2006 Jeep Liberty. The front bumper comes as a base model, or with a Grill guard.
All bumpers come with a low-gloss, low-texture black powdercoat and D-ring shackle mounts. The front bumper also comes with light bezels to fit any after market light 4.5” or smaller. I’ve attached some pictures of the bumpers, front and rear. We don’t have any pictures of the front bumper without the grill guard on it.
The front bumper weighs 105# base, or 115# with the guard, the rear weighs 120#.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, and thank you for your interest in Trailready products.
Have a good day,

Do you make bumpers for the the 05-06 body style Jeep Liberty? If so how much do they cost and where can I buy one?

In regard to the bumpers, do you have more pics other than the few on your website? As in, a pic of each bumper with the different accessories you can add? I really would like to get a better idea of what you have to offer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a pdf catalog on the home page. Or I can send you a printed one. I don’t have every model in every configuration shown however, and not much on Liberty as we only made them for a year in our first run.

WOW, and I thought the ARB instructions for the 05-07 bull bar were a bit much. About to mount the used one i found. Pictures to come as soon as it is back from powdercoating.

I always liked the look of the TRs but I started contacting them in Oct. 04 and never could get a real answer to anything I asked, then the used ARB came along and the rest is history. Interesting thing is this past March I was contacted by TR to see if I wanted one of their bumpers now???? Said they could make me a great deal but then never got a real price on the good deal? I just assumed they were a flaky company to deal with and the more I read...... :?

Hope it all works out for you and they have a bumper that just "falls" into place

another email was sent when I asked about the front end differences.

Mike,

You ordered your bumper through The Fab Shop, in Chino Valley, Arizona, right? OK, assuming that you did, you have the correct bumper for your application. There is a difference between the 02-04 front end and the 05+, but your order was for an 06, so you do have the correct one. From there, the extent of “fabrication” is as stated in the instructions, you need to relocate the turn signal as it is IN the factory bumper, but there isn’t a place IN the Trailready replacement bumper. The turn signal can be mounted between the bumper and the fender flare. Also, the windshield washer reservoir bottle must be relocated. Please see Step Six of the instructions regarding this. We recommend that you have professional assistance with installation if you are uncomfortable with this and we generally recommend professional assistance with the installation of this bumper.

I’ve attached the pictures that accompany these installation instructions. Figure Six (as seen in the instructions) does not exist (we don’t have a picture of the relocation of the windshield washer bottle).

I know this sounds like a lot, so keep me informed (you do always have the option of returning the bumper…but I don’t think it has to come to that.).

Heather

Send it back, get an ARB, no bottle relocation and a better product in my view. Air bag compliant, once you see the ARB mounting system you will see the difference. Jeez, I sound like Seth...
I can't wait to get mine on.

good luck.

By the way, mind if I ask how much the TR bumper was, ball park figure.

More fun after you get it on and pull up behind someone in one of those "low" cars and watch their reaction in the mirror!

There’s a lot of he said, she said out there about a lot of things. Sometimes it’s really helpful, and sometimes it’s a distraction. Trick is figuring out which is it for you in any particular case. Trust the people you know and try to not let the rest get to you (advice for us all!).

Keep me posted!!

See if you can get a pic of the '06 bumper. It sounds hopeful in that they acknowledged a change in the bumper which is good. I don't feel as leery for you after their recent response. If we can get it to work, it will look sweet. Did you also go with the 500 CRD springs?

I beg to differ Donnie. The ARB not only looks better but it is better designed, IMHO.

I found mine for 400.00 (barely used off an 06 and ready to put on an 07) and that has freed up the remaing 700.00+ for the OME lift I am putting on with it.

The trail ready is not thought through enough. the install is sketchy (as seen from above posts) and it is way over priced for what you have to do to get it to work. Recloate the water bottle, WHY? I know lots of people have done that for other reasons, but if a better, safer, stronger and lighter weight product works with out having to: "We recommend that you have professional assistance with installation if you are uncomfortable with this and we generally recommend professional assistance with the installation of this bumper." Crap!

Sure it doesn't look as bulky as the ARB but as it turns out is is MORE bulky and heavier that the ARB. The OME lifts are specificly designed to work with the ARB bull bar and with or without a winch.

We delt with the insurance implications of the NON air-bag comliant issues of the TR bumper before so I wont go into that again.

I just like the way the ARB compliments the lines of the KJ and uses the factory fogs in it's design. and doesn't half way cover them up like with the TR bumper. I would prefer that ARB utilized the factory turn signals in the design I am about to install, but that is not a huge concern for me.

Frankly I think the TR bumper looks like a design cut short in a rush to get to the market.

Just my .02 worth
