I have an idea what you're talking about, but what exactly is a "shim packer" and what did you modify on it?

Do you have 265/75s or 265/70's?

What has gone into getting them so that they don't rub?

Since Seth is at SEMA, i'll try to help. His KJ has removed front fender liners, pounded back pinchweld, ARB bumper, and a Frankenlift with OME struts. The rear has the liners removed, added 20 mm of new spacers on top of the OME 948's and much longer bumpstops. We did this a few weeks back at the shop. Also in the works of course is the RE control arms to move the axle back a bit. They are 265x75R16's with 1" wheel spacers.

They are flat poly spacers that we had to modify the center holes size in. Seth will send us some soon, I think he forgot us before SEMA to send me some. They are 10mm tall, and we used 2 per side to get a little over 1/2" of extra height on his KJ.

Thanks for the info.

Oh, and I wanted to mention that I broke a rather large boulder in half with your tranny skid last time I went wheeling. Thanks again for over engineering the armor!

Yes they all have OME springs, but come with Rancho struts. We will probably offer and upgrade for thos that want the OMS struts.

How do the OME struts improve things?

Thanks to Quinn for covering my butt while is was umm, "Working" in Vegas this last week.

I took the KJ out again yesterday...if you're going to put the packers in, you really need to push the axle back a little. I haven't installed the arms yet, and I blew both rear flares off the rear doors. Pics coming later... but the long and short of it is after stuffing the hell out of the tires all day, it never touched the rear side of the flares once, but tore up the front side.

So order the arms and re-align the axle to the middle of the wells.

Hung over Seth out.

Only a problem though with the 265's!!! 245's are okay.

Seth, call Tuesaday when you get a chance :)

Seth: what are the mods that you have on your jeep now? I've had Rusty's 2.5" coil lift ettle far too much, and I'm rubbing like hell and need to start upgrading stuff to save my tires.

If anyone has input, lemme know. I'd prefer to just add some spacers in if possible. I run disco'ed in front and back and don't want springs popping out tho! :)

if you are worried about springs popping out, talk to Al about his shock mounts which use stock length shocks, they sit higher so they are better for wheeling and they give you the same travel-a spring will only pop out if you have too much travel in the shocks.

I've got the Frankenlift on the front end with our OME NS131 Strut (slightly taller than the Rancho) so you get a little more lift because of where the clevis sits... pops CV's a lot though. Quinn and I can't decide if it's the lift or just the way I drive!!! ;)

The rear is our OME948 Spring w/2 1/4" shim packers on top of them. I also run those Rubicom arms to push the axle away from the front of the wheel well. I was rubbing something fierce for awhile there... LOST both flares twice. 265-75-16 Toyo MT's and I have SpiderTrax Spacers on, too. No sway bar on the rear and I disco the front when I go someplace flexy. I get a little rub in the front at the pinch weld (I pounded it flat, but since the tires are bigger now, I may need to actually cut some of it out now).

ARB's x 2 and our BullBar with an M8000 in it and some sweet IPF900SS lights. I have All J skids and their cargo rack (Nice Rack!!! Get one!) and a bunch of other goodies inside so it sits pretty heavy. No rubbing with my set up, but I don't think it's for everyone. I had to do a lot of grinding and cutting to make stuff fit and it is defiantely trial and error to make it all work.

how far are you actually able to move the rear axle back with just the lower adjustable arms? i would think that with the stock upper boomerang being non-adjustable, after lengthening the lower arms to push the axle back a slight amount, any more would just rotate the pinion of rear axle downward since the upper is in a fixed position. pointing the pinion too far downward co0uld result in vibes (just like whn the vehicle is lifted too far and the pinion angle isnt adjusted to compensate, opposite but results in the same effect)

even with 245s i have a slight rub in the rear at the front of the wheelwell and was considering the adjustable arms to help correct it but i wasnt sure how far i would be able to push the axle back with just the lower adjustable arms

Not much, but then again I didn't want to move it very much, just enough so it wasn't wearing out the front of the fenderwell and slicing up my tires. No issues with vibes at this time.

The big bene is the added flex the SuperJoints allow. I'm going to blow that Boomerang to hell someday, I can feel it. But by then I'm going to have it re-built with a Currie or Rubicon joint and the SFA will be done and much heavier parts will be all over the rear.
