That's what I did...and then I decided to avoid doing anything stupid until I get some tow points on the rig.

now in the front, you want to make a slip knot directly around the coil on the spring, right?:) and make SURE that your buddy's 1 ton diesel pickup has about 200 feet of slack in the steel cable to get up some momentum so he can MAKE SURE to get you out, right? (this was a joke, not meant to be taken seriously)

Haha, that exactly what you on the front! At first i was like, wow, hes being serious.

I would never use any other tow hooks other than the mopar ones. I got them at the dealership for $100 and they are very strong. The kj hooks do not have bracing as big as the xj's. Its kind of hard to explain it without pics. It has 3 bolts and 2 of them come from a bolt that goes up and over the uni body. Kind of hard to fish in there too.

What is sad is even having this discussion. HELLO, JEEP, PAY ATTENTION. Make some type of snatch point STANDARD or stop pushing these things as OFF ROAD vehicles. What's even sadder is you can get a cheapass KIA or even a CR-V and it comes with hookups for pulling. I would have gladly given up my "trail rated" badge for a set of hooks but this was my first jeep and I didn't know better.

i agree strongly! WTF is up with a jeep with no tow hooks or skid plates? my honda accord had a tow hook! how much could it possibly cost them? i couldn't even find a KJ with tow hooks and skid plates when i bought mine, and the dealer wanted something like $700 to add them. on that note, offer some real tires too. toyota and nissan are much more on the ball here.

No kidding.. But they get such a good deal on POS touring tires from GY and they slap them on. Granted it's only about 100.00 for a set of hooks but get real. The tow hooks and center dome light has been my biggest gripe but I see in 05's have one now (dome light). I just put a set of Cooper M&S Discovery tires on my KJ and what a difference (even in ice) they make. Sad thing is, off the dealer's shelf, they were 68.00 whereas the GY tires that were on the KJ when I leased it are like 120.00 off the shelf. I'm sure they get a better deal from GY but I'm sure if they bought a few thousand off Cooper or BFG, they could afford to put a little "D" ring up front and on the back to give us some excuse to get stuck.

Kayadog....where did you buy your KJ? Did you look at Renegades?
And I would never want to go back to that dealer that said they would add your hooks for $800. Talk about a ripoff to the max. The rear tow hook new is $79. The front tow hooks can't cost more than the rear so where the heck do they get ~$650-700 in labor? They are easy to install and remove.

Look for used hooks. Quite often someone is removing his/her hooks for hitches and install them yourself.
