I haven't measured, but my idea was to get a small file and turn the circle into a Hex and try using the heavier duty Nutzerts. I have them on the trans cross member and they seem A LOT more stout than the stock ones.

drill through the cross members and use longer bolts with some nuts. It alot stronger and easier to take on and off

That is what I did. Used Grade 8 carriage bolts, washers and nuts. These are actually stronger than the rolled steel cross members...

Also apply some Anti -seize on the bolts ,Its so much easier therafter.

a little update. I'm going to try and use coupling nuts and grade eight for the reinstall once I find couplers that are tall enough. Eventually I'll get some one to weld nutserts in place but this will let me get my skid plates back on. the coupling nuts are taller then normal nuts and will give me a lot less trouble trying to find & keep a wrench on then them normal bolts would. Probably use a telescoping magnet to guide them to the holes.

so I ended up going with a lug nut found in the shop. it's taller so it is way easier to get a wrench on when I need to get it off again. got a bolt to fit and it worked perfectly. got 2nd nut & bolt to stash in my tool box for when he other side breaks loose.
