What about using a double split shaft collar to fill the gap?

The thickness for the 2-inch diameter bore is 11/16-inch and they can be found here and many other places:

11/16-inch thick may be too wide though. Any comments if it would be safe to have a 0.6875-inch gap?

Ok, I have been silent but now have to ask...I have been wanting to do a clevis to make up for the sagging I am experiencing with my ARB bull bar up front...after reading the VERY EASY to follow posts I am sure I know what to do and pretty sure I know how to do it...my question is what are all the tools I will need in order to sucessfully and safely undertake this job? Obviously, since I'm a Jeep owner I have a jack and jack stands as well as a pretty good selection of tools in the old garage, but is there anything special I need? I need a list of tools please, thanks guys :D

Jack, pry bar, sockets and 3/8 and 1/2 drive ratchet. No real special tools, if you have the tools to do a lift, you got the tools for a clevis lift.

I keep hearing about this, Sounds like a pain in the %^# - I Purchased my lift on ebay for $100 and Had it intalled in a couple hours at a local garage for $121. Yeah it was worth the money for me to have them do it, since time is money for me but hey, I got a nice 3" Lift and a very smooth ride. Check my site for the details.

Sorry Wilmo, I don't have any pics. Next yime you're in Home Depot or a hardware store just ask for 2" electrical conduit pipe nuts and they'll show ya.

I went to an electrical supply store and asked for 2" electrical conduit nuts. I thought they looked a bit too big but I didn't have my Liberty with me. I got six of them. When I got home I took one out and held it up to the clevis and yup way too big! The ID of the nut is 2 3/4" and the OD is 3 1/4" I suppose they would screw on to a 2" electrical conduit pipe. I think electrical conduit pipe is measured by the ID. So now I got to take these things back. What size do I really need?

Also I looked underneath at the angle of the axle shaft and they are pointing slightly upwards towards the wheel. No wonder why I keep scraping the ground. Is a new CRD supposed to be sagging that low? Shouldn't those axle shafts be pointing slightly down towards the wheel? It also looks like the springs are quite compressed. Like about a half inch space between the coils.

Good information would be appreciated.

Catherine

I second that. What is the OD of the strut. I want to put a collar on it if I do a clevis. Alljeep showed a great idea and I love it. I want to find those at a hardware store and I figured a 3/8" will work. I simply need to get one to fit the OD of the strut. What size is it? Thanks!
