Mike went down this hill only to find out there was no way he could get back up, in the picture he is maybe half way down if that and its steep! and then Mitch to the rescue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Strapped his front to a tree, and let all of the cable out, two 30 foot straps and started the pull

So from the sound of it, it sounds like Mitch did the pull with the winch connected to the rear receiver hitch. Is that true?

Now I really want to see more pics of this!!!!

Good job to all!!! :D

Yep we tied him off from a big old tree to his front tow hooks, with his rear looking down over the hill, winch mounted in the rear hitch and away he went
Should be some pictures up soon. I hope

Mitch, which Quick-Disconnect Kit are you using for the wiring?

The ones that came in the box. They have flat pole connectors that mate inside a plastic sleeve.

The model you brought came with Front and Rear disconnectors that were long enough as part of the package? That was a really good deal then...!!!

A little about hitches front and rear. Designers take in account all different vectors of pull and push so a "straight back or out" pull only is an incorrect statement. Standard designed hitches available for KJ can pretty much handle anything that Champion winch can throw at it. Hitches in use get pushed, pulled and twisted at many different angles with strong forces all at the same time. Pulses on these forces can be 10000 to 12000 lbs (think full size travel trailer).
Front and rear hitches for KJ are usually rated at 5000 lbs, then are rated at 7500 lbs with weight distribution (rear). So a line pull whatever the angle with a winch up to 8 to 10K lbs for a short time weight hold and short pulse/duration is no problem. Of course you would want to pull as straight and "out" as you can for max performance and safety and practicality. Just make sure the hitch you have has at least six points of frame attachment and to use min grade 5 hardware (grade 8 is better).

BTW I have that same Champion winch from Sam's Club for about 9 months now- never used it yet- kinda sits in the back while wheeling just being heavy- with the attached cradle it has to be at least 100lbs--
Did use it once to pull a dead Cavalier up on an auto trailer and no problem- people say it pulls to slow but NO WAY pull was at a very safe speed.
This is a good buy and a good addition to your KJ.
