Don't get mad at me friend...

Jeep is the one that puts "limited" on the side of the liberty while the wrangler gets "unlimited"

Just for you, I'll retract the word VERY

Awsome 4x2 8)

He is just an old angry bitter man that is upset at everyone/everything and likes to complain. I can't even count the number of complaining powertrax posts he has made.

No offense the1jferg, but you even admitted it once yourself in some post. :D

By the way the1jferg, isn't the powertrax the greatest thing around. Perfectly silent and smooth on the road, especially in that odd ball Dana 35 you have.

EDDO,

"No offense the1jferg..."

When you read "the Secets of Power Persuasion" by Roger Dawson you'll find that the placement of words like "No offense" has the opposite intent. See with folks like me, I respect those who speak-up

I've always found that folks with "rose colored glasses" always stick together and think others are complaining when they tell it like it is.
"rosey" folks like to pump each other up. Many times they do this to justify the sub-standard. The rest of us call a horse, a horse, of course.

I both punish myself and pat myself on the back as a realist. I Don't need the group frenzy or approval. I am INTELLECTUALLY HONEST IN A WORLD OF SPIN.

I actually witnessed a youth baseball group who didn't want to keep score for fear of hurting the childrens self esteem, Why play if you ain't gonna keep score?

You only improve by discussing the limitations.

As far as angry and bitter...You must be kiddin...I have the perfect Life and Wife. Retired Military, Cancer survivor, blessed by GOD allmighty, no Money troubles, Bombay Sapphire Gin, a six of Sam Adams, Tabasco Sauce, Fresh ground coffee, and a pot of Stew on the stove.

I only admitted to having NO tact. The rest is a fabrication of your memory is it not?

Old? http://www.thefergusons.us/kj/kj.htm ....Who can take me...Our country's enemies never could. There will come a day when I'm too old to back myself up though, thats a curse we all shall suffer.

What was I complaining about in this thread? I had no clue the 4x4 clearance sux so bad, It was enlightning.
The thread was started by a realist...not a complainer.

Yes, MY no-slip is other than optimal.

The diff between perception and reality is funny: Did you know as soon as the egg meets the sperm cell, its a dying organism?

Awsome 4x2

Eddo, I still luv ya man.

LIVESTRONG...

I'm not entirely sure why there's all this fuss about front diff clearance. The only time that's an issue is when you're driving very deeply rutted tracks, with your wheels in the ruts you run the risk of beaching yourself on the front skid. Even so, by wibbling the steering wheel back and forth a bit you can (especially if you've got tyres with nice sidewall lugs) gain enough traction to drag yourself along. Plus, if the track's that rutted then it's probably damaged so much that you shouldn't be driving it.

A solid axle truck (e.g. an XJ) with the same size tyres will actually have a lower minimum diff clearance than it's IFS equivalent (e.g. a KJ) because the diff pumpkin hangs down, whereas it's tucked up out of the way in the IFS truck. Plus, when you lift a KJ the truck goes up, and the diff goes with it; you gain clearance. If you lift an XJ the tuck goes up and the diff stays attached to the wheels; the clearance stays the same. The only way to gain clearance under the diff is by fitting bigger tyres, which also gains you clearance in a KJ; so the same lift plus the same tyres gains you more in a KJ.

Of course (currently) you can more easily lift SFA trucks (TJs, XJs) than you can KJs. But remember that they've been around much longer, and it's only just now that the KJ is starting to be accepted (by some people) as a serious offroad vehicle. By the time the KJ's been around as long as the XJ there'll be plenty of ways to lift it as high as you like.

But all this is pretty inconsequential. When you're wheeling (especially on rocks) your tyres should be on the highest bits of ground, so your diff will rarely come into contact with the gound. What matters is approach, departure and break-over angles, which is what the "running" ground clearance that Jeep quote is telling you. And the KJ scores pretty well in these areas straight out of the box.

Finally. The fun, and skill, in offroad driving is picking the correct lines so that you don't get stuck and having the knowledge to recover yourself and others when you do get stuck. We've got people in our club with massively built up trucks that they can point at pretty much anything and just drive through it without thinking. Of course that's their choice, but to my mind there's no skill involved, or fun to be had, it's just a question of money.

Remember kids; if you're not stuck, you're not trying.

Yeah, the challenge of the KJ is it's most appealing personality trait. Half the fun of 4 wheeling is getting stuck and the other half is recovery. Capability is cool-but I think the KJ is the most fun 4x4 I have driven in a while.

I love my little kj. I really like my ome lift. It sits just alittle higher than the stock prelowered 02's did and the ride is awsome. Ive had it into mud/water up to the engine fan and it went right through it no problems. The front skid really did its job and i never thought anything of it, thats why the skid is there. Ive only got 8" of ground clearnce but im on the stock 29in tires with 17in rims. When they wear out im going for 29.6" tires to give me more protection for my rims. i would love to get an extra set of wheels, but i dont off road enough for that. The only thing left for her is the powertrax locker, and new tires.

I know that when I had my lift installed it made my Libby feel like a Grand Cherokee. Then I went and killed that by adding the MTR's
