I was driving around in both my parent's 1973 Chevy Impala (4-door) and 1973 Ford Maverick when I was in school and that was in the early 80's.

Take your dad to some off-road events (preferably LOST) and that might change his mind. If not, he could suddenly become lost out there in the deep forest.....LOL! Just kidding.

Ok, here are 2 ideas.
1: Instead of getting a lift, get lockers, all skids, exhaust, engine mods, sound system, etc. I had most of that done (aside from lockers, and engine mods) before I got my lift.

2. Go and wrench on your KJ every night. Go out and be like, Dad can you explan some stuff to me. Get him into the KJ. Next, take him wheeling! Let him drive! Show him how to use 4hi and 4lo! If you can get him involved with it, show him LOST. Get him into LOST and then your golden!

*For the record, it took me a little over a year to convince my mom to let me get a lift. I got my KJ used when I turned 16 so yes I am one of the "fortunate ones".

Yeah, changed the name becasue i know im lucky, i drive a Liberty after all. I think im gonna try and take him on some trails, itll probably grow on him like the hellas and revos did. He was skeptical at first for both but now he likes them. even if it dosent work its ok, his truck his final decision, ill just have to drive my Libby better then most. jk

Sounds to me like the Jeep bug is starting to bite. Time for some Quality time with your dad on some trails. Take it slow and easy and pay attention to everything. Ask lots of questions of the folks you wheel with and learn as much as you can. Your dad will see your enthusiasm and I bet he will dig it. The mods will probably start showing up even if only the pre-lift armor items and such.
Good luck & Have fun.

I personally think dear ole dad is looking out for the only ride you have right now, BECAUSE he knows after that lift goes on the liberty there is no stopping you. Then the next thing your going to face is, OOPS what the hell just broke? Oh no not the drive shaft, or the transfer case or who knows what from you doing your 4x4 thing, and now you have nothing to drive, and can you really afford to pay for the repairs on top of everything else! That is how dad's think. In time my friend, in time.

I'll be turning 17 in March, I got a job and pay for my liberty (moms name) but the monthly payments come from me.

bought my own lift (thanks to Edgar). Had to wait a year to convince my mom to get it installed but what really worked was I let her drive it once when we went 4 wheeling along with a buddy's rubicon, so now she isn't so against it. (until I come home with something broken then it's all my fault :D)

PS: I'm also the only lifted liberty in my county.
