My 5 year old daughter is also a die hard Jeep girl.. I keep messing with her and telling her I am going to get rid of one the Jeeps and she goes nuts.. She is getting my old YJ when she gets old enough to drive.. She has been helping me upgrade it.. My little Jeep mechanic.. :D

Why do we always try to compare the KJ to a TJ? To me it seems like we're comparing apples to oranges. To me a more fair comparison would be comparing a KJ to an XJ. Will an unmodified KJ go the same places as an unmodified XJ? Once mildly modified, will they go virtually the same places? The KJ was built to replace the XJ, not to compete with the TJ.

Swap in the 4:1 Tera-low kit and some ARBs front and rear...

along with the 2.5" lift and 245/75r16 Revos...

And my running gear is pretty similar to what the Rubicon has...

Let's be honest, other than that, there isn't too much else to the Rubi: the rocker guards are a joke, we already have 4 wheel disks, the front Dana 44 isn't really a Dana 44...

Ok, so the axles, tranfer case, and lockers make quite a difference..

At least I don't drive an Xterra!

Psychologists have been able to generate Us vs Them responses by utterly trivial differences - taking a classroom and dividing it into team A and B or Blue-eyed vs Brown Eyed.
It taps into one of the more primitive parts of the brain - it's emotionally driven and has nothing to do with logic and only looks to reason as an after the fact rationalization.

Personally if someone has that attitude - I don't worry about them - I know why I bought my Jeep - what my reasons are - and I focus on what I need to work on - not them. That's more of a philosophy that an argument.

You know that guy is from Utah and in some of the pics in the link TnRebel posted there are two other Libertys with them? Someone around here has to know him.

Here is the link to the beginning of the modifications. Very detailed write-up with excellent photos.

EDIT: Yeah it IS JediJeepr's rig.

i don't try to compare to a cj or tj but compaired to non jeeps we are head and sholders above the rest. just an example , if we are hanging out on the beach and someone gets stuck they will run by other 4x4's to get us to help. and yes when i say we hanging out on the beach i mean the whole family can go in my kj 'me,the wife, the kids, the dogs, ice chest full of drinks, and two surf boards and my yak on the roof.all in comfort, i know why i bought my kj and have no regrets .
:D :D

see yall out past the end of the road

Hater: It's a Soccer Mom car. And it has grocery bag hooks

Truth: Yup, that's true : It's not our fault that the Jeep Liberty is the #1 selling compact SUV. We can compete with the cute-utes like the escape, rav4, crv, and still keep the real offroadability. Just because soccer moms buy the liberty doesn't make it less of a jeep. And I like my grocery bag hooks!

is that what those plastic things are on the back of my seats? Seriously, that's not a joke

Quote:
Hater: They don't make mods for the Liberty, so it's not a real jeep

Truth: The Liberty has recently been climbing in the number of available mods. Right now there are at least 15 different lift kits, 4 or 5 manufacturers of lockers, a few choices for replacement bumpers, lots of roof racks, and plenty of room for custom work. We can't hold a candle to the wrangler aftermarket, but the wrangler has been around forever - the Liberty just hit the market in 2002! You'll notice that the GC and Commander have even less available for them.

Hater: You can't fit large tires in the wheel wells. 29"? What a joke!

Truth: : It is a little bit disappointing . We need a lift to fit 31" tires. Wranglers come stock with tires that are smaller than we have, but can fit tires that are larger with less work. Cherokees have similar issues to ours, they need to modify or lift to get large tires.

Wranglers that aren't Rubicons cant fit anything bigger than a 30x9.5 without rubbing:) And the KJ has more available for it now than the XJ did 10 years ago, and 10 years ago the XJ was 12 years old!

but a 245/70R16 is the same od as a 30/9.5R15 so saying you cant fit anything larger that a 29" tyre is false

stick it up tha haters

Going to lunch today in Bel Air MD I'm driving North along RT 24 and I drive past a new yellow Wrangle with yellow truck nutz dangling from the rear bumper. I notice inch high yellow lettering on the back window that reads LIBERTYS ARE NOT REAL JEEPS. I motion for him to roll his window down and ask him to join us 4 wheeling at our Paragon run this Saturday. He shyly declines the invitation and slowed down. I told him,, that's what I figured,,,,,,

I think that anyone owning a jeep who thinks libertys are not real jeeps ought to at least be willing to hit the trail with us to find out,, lol.

my 2 cents
