Anti sieze or a good grease is suggested on the splines just to make your disassembly easier in the future. Also sounds like he might of torn seal reinstalling everything. Looks like you might be pulling both sides to correct your issues.

Define "good grease" please. I have some cheap grease I bought for my grease gun for ball joints and such. Otherwise I'll just pick up some of those anti seize packets at the front counter. So I guess we should be extra careful we don't tear the axle seal on the passenger side. While were on the subject, any good information to pass along for replacing an axle seal?

Thanks

Anti-sieze will do just fine so i dont start a debate on what good grease is. And never pulled the seals on one of these axles most of the time a good seal puller will get them out I have one set up with a slide hammer that does the trick every time. But here are the repair manuals on these jeeps be ready it is a large adobe file. KJ Manual

OK, we are working on this and the intermediate shaft did not come out with the CV. The teeth are to worn I think (part of the problem). I can't really get a good hold on the intermediate shaft to pull it out. There's a tiny bit of play in it but I can't get a good grip. Any recommended tool to remove it?

I assume you've tried a pair of big vise grips ?
Attach as tight as you can, push in and jerk back out in one fluid motion.
Worked for me anyways. Sort of pop it out

Well, you have to make sure your vise grips have good teeth on them. I went and bought a new pair and that worked. Though we had to add a little leverage.

Now, on to the ABS sensor. The thing had broken off in the hole. Any tips or tricks for getting that out? Do we just need to drill it out?

ABS sensor finally broke loose. Now I need to go back and find the thread with all the torque settings.

Thanks again for all the help.

If your looking for the torque on the abs sensor just tighten it up with a T-handle and some blue loctite and call it good.
