I was wanting to go there this weekend, but the weather is gonna be horrendous. So it's a no-go at the moment. Most likely it will have to wait till their big Superlift Adventure Series run next month.

Actually I found the most likely culprit of these busted cases is not the actual case itself, but the POS light weight cast aluminum bearing caps!!!

Anything that allows the guts to start moving is a bad bad thing. I wonder if cast iron D30 caps work?

if you put steel and aluminum togther they will rust the oil on the aluminum will makes the steel start to rust and that would be a bad thing and I think the thread out rip out second I don't think the steel would give llike the aluminum would to give the flex in the case just my :2cents:

The diff housing and caps are a machined set, mixing will be bad since the tolerances will be out of wack and cause more issues then fix.

metallurgy could use some work -

Aluminum is anodic with respect to steel
if you have an electrolyte the Al will corrode and plate out on the steel
for electrolyte - try melted snow and salt - great corrosion generator.

I agree, I got a couple minor issues but need others input when they buy/install one for themselves to decide if it's isolated to just mine, or even if it has anything to do with my new JBA diff. I will say, I'm kinda disappointed in the Genuine G2 gear set I bought from 4Wheel Parts. It was supposed to be the highest quality gears they had and the whine they produce is a bit more than I was expecting, as they should be unnoticeable. Hopefully, when they get fully broken in and I do a fresh oil drain/fill things will quiet down.

what gear sets are you running I have 4.10's front and back in my 30a and 8.25 currently..... All the gear sets I have seen for the steel 30's are 4.11 and haven't seen any 4.11 for the 8.25. Wouldn't running even a minor difference in gears cause binding and what not?

Stock 3.73's is what I went with, cause I didn't have the funds to upgrade the rear to 4.10's.

They are basically the same. The difference between 4.10 and 4.11 is 0.2439%. Its actually less than that, since the 4.10 and 4.11 numbers are rounded to two digits.

You can safely run 4.10's in one diff and 4.11's in the other. Variation in tire diameter is larger than the difference between 4.10's and 4.11's
