From the looks of the tire tracks, he just drove down into it. The rear tire looks to be only a tire width off of the original line.

It slipped down into it. I've been through there before and never had this issue.

At least you kept your air intake up! What exactly killed it? Water in the trans? I still have to extend my breathers.

The transmission isn't working real well, figure it's full of water. You can turn the KJ off and take the keys out and it still runs. The doors are trying to lock and unlock themselves and the interior lights flash on and off. The wipers come on when they want and the parking lights stay on.

I put in a claim with my insurance, we'll see what happens. Just driving down a dirt road, I moved over to let someone pass and plop.

Sounds like demon possession to me! Seriously, I hope your insurance doesn't balk at the claim. I can say Allstate has been great for me, nothing major, but I have had to replace 2 windshields in the past 7 months and they never batted an eye!

DANG, I'm not even sure my lifted Rubicon with a snorkel would have cleared that hole!

as im a former Libby and rubi owner.

Sucks about your Jeep.

Yeah, the new wheelin' mobile is a '84 CJ-7 on 38s, locked, cocked, and ready to rock. Just trying to find a new Mommy mobile.

Mutt i think if you take your new CJ-7 and idle through that hole where the kj sank, would make you fell alot better. the best part if that it will do it! I had a 82' Cj-7 laredo with 75000kms (origional) with 32's and us eto dirve it ina a lake up to the middle of the head lights to clean it off, it never blinked an eye! Oh i miss it! i even put it on it's side before. un buckled, got out we pushed it over, started it up and kept going(without a scratch accept for a damaged mirror). You'll really enjoy the CJ, i did!

Chris might get a little teary-eyed if we go wheeling with you and the CJ. He tends to have withdrawals every now and again - he drove a 79 CJ7 from 1995-2004 as a daily driver/weekend wheeler.

can you imagine what would have happened if you gunned it through there like most people do when they see a mud puddle that size? The KJ would have been on its roof...

poor poor KJ, seems like you are taking it in good spirits though
