It would almost be a shame to add steps to those. They look so "stealth" and "tidy"...but if you HAD TO, a step bar coming out from the extreme ends might look OK...even tho it will be covering up the shape that was there with the metal fabbing....

OK, no...add the bar inside the two ends so you keep the look that has been carried over.

Yes an added bar would detract from the clean look but would provide the door protection that some might need. It would only have to stick out a little further than the Boulderbars do to work for my needs.

HELL YEA THEY LOOK AWSOME!

would love to get that on my 03 KJ.

also looks like it would have another use, Jacking up the KJ to do work or rotate tires. Might be better then the crappy jack spots.

FWIW, I got a quote of $800 + shipping for a set. While I can almost see that much value in them I would have to pass. Guess I gotta get out my welder and tools and start my own set.

Since I didn't explain.... The value in them is in the protection they provide. If you had to pay to repair rocker damage they would be paid for after the first hit. Same goes for less expensive rails too so the difference in price is pretty high from a $350 set of Boulderbars that will also protect your rockers.

For the work in them and time involved....$800 seems pretty reasonable to me!!
Custom work takes time, nice custom work takes more time, and time is money!!

Just like the military or college... it's not for everyone.
Yes they are expensive. But don't let the price dilute the purpose: FUNCTION #1 and appearance #2. They've fulfilled both.

Don't get me wrong. I think that THOSE rails are worth that much especially if they included an outer slider bar. The workmanship that I can see is beautiful and I know what went into them. Trust me, if I had to make them for myself it would take me more than $800 of my time.

As many others have pointed out "if you can't pay the piper don't come to the dance". You get what you pay for it will be a while till I have the funds, but from what I see these are the sliders I think I'ld go for if not then Super Sllinkers. Additionally I would ask if he would be weilling to make the rest of the armor for my undercarriage tying all the designs together into a fully protected Liberty. You would spend a lot more after the fact for half steping and not doing it right. :D :D

I'm going to the Quachita Jamboree in Arkansas at the Superlift Off Road Park. I'm gonna push it a little more to the limits now that I've got some protection and solid gear so I'll let you know (via pics) how it all worked. We'll see if spending the money paid off. BTW, I just sprung for the swaybar disconnect from Al J's so that should help. My dealer also just built an RTI ramp so I can see how she scores. Stock but with the Rusty's lift, I scored a 584. Pretty decent I think but I'll re measure with the sb disconnected.

They are super-cool in a far-out kinda way, but I don't think they are as good as Marty's. What happens when those exposed bolt heads get sheered off by a rock? Marty has also done more to earn your business.

Its pretty easy when you show up with great product like you did. It certainly ups the ante and provides more choices for buyers or ideas for home builders. Of course I was thinking about boat siding my KJ in the future too.....

If those exposed bolt heads get sheared off, I've got ALOT more to worry about than the sheared off bolts.

I agree. I just can't afford it.

Those things are built nice. Some serious metal fab skills there. Kinda makes the bottom look like a turtle to just glide over stuff. I love the stealth look. Very cool!

Hey ya'll. How bout them Cowboys! :D
Anywho. Listen, I went to the Quachita Jambo and had a blast. The Superlift park ranks trails different than Jeep Jambo USA does so I don't know exactly the ratings you'll understand. The bottom line is this... If you don't have these sliders specifically, meaning if you don't have "boat sides" or "turtle sides" like I do, you wouldn't have stayed with us, in an IFS Liberty anyway. Because I don't have much lift, I scraped across the tops of most of the big rocks. I don't remember the names but the first day, I went with the Blue Group; in this case, it was the big dogs with 35 inch tires and up! I had to get Clint to work his MOJO to get them to allow me to go but man I went and although I scraped the underside up pretty good, it all worked as planned. I don't have much time now but wanted to make a couple of points about these upgrades to the undercarriage.
1. the new sliders worked phenomenally! Had they not been "boatsided", any bracketry would have caught on the rocks and I'd have done some major underbody damage, not to mention needing a serious tow!
2. the bolts didn't come close to getting sheered off. Actually they "hid" just inside the rock contact and worked perfectly.
3. I did sheer off a valve stem with a rock and used the sliders as a highlift jack point! Good thing too cause there was no other place to put that jack.
4. The improved ground clearance was evident right off the bat.
5. As stated previously, I cut the bottom off the rear control arm mounts and plated them. Good thing cause I'd have been hung on them too!
6. If you haven't seen my muffler thread about r/r of the muffler with a smaller one and relocating it higher into the rails, you'd better revisit it. Evenso, I damaged my muffler pretty bad. No punctures but it needed replacing upon my return.
All in all, with some skills, my KJ hung with the big boys most of the day. After I sheered the valve stem late in the day and installed the full sized spare, I got nervous about not having another and went to town for a repair and some spare stems. BTW, don't ever use steel valve stems. They look cool for bling but not for function! Just FYI.
More to come. Hit me with some questions if any so I don't just continue rambling.
Later
Oh, yeah. I don't remember all the names to the trails but I went on every 4 star trail WITHOUT a tow! Two of the 4.5s though required a little assistance. I just didn't have the tire height or ground clearance. Maybe next time! There was an Ultimate Adventure held there in 2003 with a trail that boasted it. That wasn't a piece of cake but I did it without a tow too. I was pretty impressed. I hopefully get some pics/vids up soon.

Awesome stuff...are these modifications, the belly rock rails and rear control arm mount mod, available for all KJ owners at the location you had it done or would it be up to us to have another place perform a similar mod??

rubigade,

are those sheet metal screws holding the upper part into the body or can you somehow get a nut behind there?
