It looks sweet and helps my rig survive a river crossing (see Dante's Peak)

Do you have a picture of your snorkel kit laid out on the floor? Would be interested in seeing what all it comes with.

Thanks for the try but that picture is way to small. The link ARBSeth gave shows that it is made in Australia and the snorkel is on the left side of the vehicle (passenger side for Australia). Do they make the kit to fit on the right side of the vehicle. I would not put the snorkel on the driver's side (our left side).

That is on the passenger side....in Australia, where it is made. Does it specify passenger side on the right side of the vehicle?

Right, but those pictures show a snorkel made for our drivers side (your passenger side). I think that's what he's getting at...

So....they make them for BOTH sides. Sounds good.

I thought ARB safari snorkels went right into the air box. Wouldn't you have to put it on the passenger (right) side? I could be wrong but I know that an episode of Trucks on Spike TV featured an install of a safari snorkel on a TJ and it used the stock airbox. If that's true then what about that little drain hole on the bottom of the air intake? wouldn't water be able to travel up through there almost eliminating the usefullness of a snorkel? Or would that part not be retained in the snorkel set up?

The side the snorkel mounts on will be the side the airbox/intake is on. Otherwise you'd have to re-route the pipes right the way across the engine bay. Useful they make ones for both sides though if you're trying to fit one that's not intended for your particular truck. I guess the diesel XJ one is the one you want, what with the KJ air intake being on the right hand side.

I believe that when you fit a snorkel you either eliminate the airbox, or modify it. In the case of TJs I believe you modify it since the air intake comes in from a different place, so you blank off the old intake and create a new one attached to the snorkel. Probably at the same time you also blank off the drainage holes. Since the whole point of a snorkel is that it's watertight.

Here's one off a TJ;

IIRC, that drain hole comes with a plug. The plug is left un-installed for normal usage as to allow rain water and such to escape but when anticipating a deep water crossing, the plug is then installed, thus making it watertight.

I had the same Problem with the XJ Diesel snorkel, Rang ARB "sorry we dont make them for the Diesel XJ not enough interest" so Myself and Gojeep went to work to find another snorkel from a different 4wd that would work, so Gojeep who lived and has done other work for Airflow looking into the room with all the test snorkels with the pipes cut off to see which one fitted the body of the xj the best and found that the one for the Mitsubishi Triton ute did the job the best so then it was my turn (as Gojeep had a petrol xj) to make it fit, I was the sucker who had to cut a 3" hole in his beloved jeep and hope it works.

but all in all it work out in the end and now they are sold as a kit in Australia

so you should be able to do it if you find the one that sits on the body the best

Okay.....now that I see that, the stock radio antenna or my CB antenna-mod would have to be relocated.

Same thing/idea I sent Wally... best I could find was an Old Style Tacoma Snorkel taking into account the position of the Air Box and the way it runs through the fender to the box. You could make one yourself with any 3" PVC pipe, our Horn top a 3" hole saw and some 3" tube.

Don't nuke it out, guys. Seal up the stock box, run the hose to it, seal that connection. Run said hose to the hole in the fender and clamp/seal it to the 3" PVC/body assembly...secure the body to the chasis of the vehicle, attach the top horn and voila!!! Snorkel!
