he has a manual tranny so he can feather it some on take off but with an automatic you are going to have to go to 4.10s for sure, I don't care what anyone says a 265 / 75 will kill your power a good bit, amd mileage

X2

Even 4.10's is really not enough for 265/75's,4.30's or 4.56's would be much, much better but not possible with the front D30A,SFA baby!!!!

Realistically, how tall can I go on a 16” and 17” rim with 4:10’s and the 42RLE? I have both, the factory 17X7's and the 16X8 Moabs.

With the stock KJ weight,4.10's is just a tad to high for 31" tires with the auto tranny to be back in OEM specs.4.30 gears for 32x10.50's tires(4.56's for better lowend),4.56's for 33x12.50's(4.88's for better lowend).Me personally going to 5.13's for 35x13.50's.

Thanks a lot!!! but it took a pretty good hit on power. i would always start in 2nd with stock size tires.. now i just start in first most the time. On real steep long winded hills it sometimes requires 5th gear but that's very rare. i have an air intake and exhaust so that helped restore some power especially in low and mid RPM's i road tripped 190 miles last weekend and got 18.6 mpg.. around town is normally 17ish

Dang, those are some pretty good MPG's. Mine is bone stock right now and I get in the 15's in town. 18's on the highway. I am about 4700 ft above sea level though. I'm going to take a trip to Louisiana this Christmas, and then see how it does AT sea level. I know when I did that in my Tahoe, it acted like it had a entirely different engine in it. (for the better I mean)

I though about it, but I really want those ome shocks and struts. Like everyone says, "you get what you pay for."

you can still have OME shocks and springs and not buy a Frankenlift What the heck is everyone talking about?? You dont need to buy the Frankenlift to have them , plus after all the miles I have on my setup I would not have the OME shocks

Just curious, why don't you want the OME shocks?

I think you may have misread the post. I'm saying that I DO want the ome shocks and struts. I opted for the ranchos though because they're still a quality shock, but cheaper and with a lifetime warranty.

he was I think, OMEs are OK but I like the Ranchos since I always carry extra tools, parts, have the weight of the Kilby skid back there etc. so the Ranchos handle that and ride great.

Not true for 90% of the tires out there, more like a general rule of thumb.

My 265/75R16 MT/R's physically measured 31.5",my 265/75R16 Trxus MT's measure 31.9" tall, same size, same rim,but different tire company.Different company's label tires one size when they are not really in specs with another company's same sized tire.Procrap tires are one example of advertizing one size and the actual measurement being way off, there 35" tires maybe measure 33"-34" tall if your lucky.

Or is it that they are too short?

I don't know, I'm confused :? But then again, I'm always LOST    Hopefully it means that 31's are too short, I wouldn't mind going a tad bigger.
