No it will not hurt anything

my main gripe with any spacer type lift is and always has been

1) you are using springs that have 30,000/60,000/ 100,000 miles on them, they are weak to begin with and now you are preloading them making them sag even faster
2) many times people do not want to use new shocks , there again you have a used item that is wore out and putting a band aid on it for a short term fix
3) "I only use mine for a DD never off road it", doesn't matter the suspension is still working almost as hard on the street with potholes, RR tracks etc
To me the difference between a spacer lift and a full spring lift is less than 200 bucks so why??

Sermon is over

and now a song from the choir

Nope, It just doesn't ride as well as full suspension lift. But it's the best budget lift out there.

I really appreciate you guys for keeping this civilized, as I seen how past lift threads got pretty irate and wound up locked down.

if what your saying about the suspension is true then

instead of moving the lower part of the shock could you not then just as effectively move the top mounting point up
say 8-10 inches .....now im not talking looks just function

I mean adding the suspension length is all your going for it should not matter if it is on the top or the bottom right???

The suspension on a KJ can only move so much up and / or down due to several things, one being tha CVs and them binding after not too much more travel than what we have now, making the top stick through the hood say would not help that much if any really.
It all sounds good on paper, but the best way is to get under there , tear it all apart and see what travel there really is and what can be done, trust me I have sat and looked at it torn down several times and just not much more you can do really with out 5/6000 bucks , which then is a heck of a start on a RL lift

as far as keeping it civilized, most threads are that way until some idiot thinks he knows more than everyone else and has never even done a lift, he's quoting his brothers wifes first cousins nephew when they lifted a Subaru

Thats what I did as well, I never posted one thing until maybe two or three months after I got on here back in August 2004, read through everything there was

NO ONE does that anymore nor do they look right below their post to find an answer  too lazy I think to do it

Ive been doing the same thing since 05.. Lurking, reading back 8, 9, 10, 11+ pages in the various forums. Found lots of good info. Finally joined to give firsthand experience on the 8.25" Aussie Locker, and stuck around to post useless info, and request parts that no one in their right mind would actually want.

I try to give back for all of the knowledge I have gained from the board, but I am a moron so I dont usually pay attention to me.

..And kudos on all of the research on the OTT subject, 2mopar_diesels. I too am of the 'why?' camp, and not the 'ok, I will believe you because you have been doing it longer' (not that I dont believe, I just like hows and whys).

Poor Tony all of that work and no one reads it

I think before newbies can post that they must show that they have read at least ten pages of posts in each section, then they can ask questions and make comments

Hey, we agree on that one. i think a thread like mine here gets people to thinking and like you said, they post up the questions you mention without searching 1st or they need to confirm what they read elsewhere. i will not bash them for it though. Just politely give them this link if it is relevant to the questions they have.

Some people need prodded into thinking for themselves though, the only way to do that is to about half make them mad at you, then they start their thought process to challenge you and can then actually start thinking on their own after that. I like to challenge peoples minds just to get or see the reaction.

This board is a place for learning and the best way to learn is to ask question or just try it out fro your self. By asking questions, you can save your self a lot of time and possibly pain and money because some one on here has probably had the same idea and tried it out. Also, for those people that cause trouble, they do get contacted...Us mods and admins are every were.... well almost (I don't dare step foot in to the CRD section  )

My point is, there is a bunch of info on here and if some one took the time just to look first, a lot of answer would be self answered.... How ever it is always cool to post a question because our search sucks in my opinion. There will always be threads like this in tell the day all of the KJ's are gone, and even then some one will still bring up the location of the spare on the KK and set off another 12 page topic....

To end, I'm sorry that you feel as thought you must leave and wish you good luck. Every person is entitled to their opinion.....

ok I'm done

I try to do a lot of reading/ learning and not much posting but:

In the TDIClub forum they are known as Gurus, the turbo diesel experts especially when it comes to emissions and power tuning. You guys here are the KJ suspension Gurus when it comes to lifts and related solutions. It is wise to listen and learn.
But you (plural), on the outside do come across as rough at times. But an intelligent person as we are here needs to see through that and the result is you are really very kool guys with ubervaluable infromation!

So simply- Keep up the good work you veteran wise ones!

But it is this lively action on this forum and the concept basing this forum that makes it worth it to proudly own and build up and wheel and show off and be just have a good feeling with our Jeep Liberty's!!

I will never, ever peel off my stickers- I am way too proud of KJ owenrship and will always show them off!!

Roland

Unfortunately, stock KJ front springs & struts seem pretty cheap. My stockers allowed my front to visibly sag at 55,000 miles. A few more bucks for replacements seemed like the best answer to me.

The OP did some research to satisfy his curiosity and did well, but we still end up right back where we have always been. Some curiosity has been satisfied, but nothing new has happened. We are still at using the Dayster if you want to save a few bucks with a spacer lift and can trust your stock components, or one of the OME-based spring lifts for the best performance.
