my dad has a rubicon.. and when it's locked front and rear (with air selectable lockers) it would take a football field to turn it around... kinda what i'm worried about with a LSD like a DTT in the front.. i know it wont be that bad but still trying to avoid it.

i still think the Aussie in the rear and a front DTT would be an outstanding set up... if the road manors for the DTT in the front were alright to drive 200 miles one way to college and back with.

pretty much sure I am going that route and I drive at least 500/600 a weekend, just for fun. I have ran lockers in front before but all those was with lock outs so a little different. Troy drives his quite a bit and doesnt seem to have any problems.

gong back to what was said about what aussie locker had on their site. It says in the additional information "Check with your Jeep dealer to ensure that you DO NOT have a Dana 30A aluminum carrier differential. The XD13027 does not fit in the Dana 30A carrier." Is anyone else confused by this? Troy, Marty, or someone please explain this if at all possible.

heres the link for anyone who has no clue what im talking about

Oh and i know its off topic but I just thought about it. Now is the pinion longer in the 30a or the 30?

...... you have me confused here now, we know about the Aussie not fitting the front ( or it may fit according to one post that said Troy said it would since I have reread some of it ??? , but we have been talking or at least I have been, about the Aussie rear for the 8.25 and then what may be used up front which we have two choices ...the ARB and the TT

It should fit in the D30A,the carrier is no different from a regular D30 carrier,I'm assuming they are just saying that due to the aluminum housing the aussie locker should not be used for clear reasons.I have a TT upfront made for a regular D30 and it fit,but it is a full carrier replacement also,as is the ARB so maybe there is a slight difference, bjut who knows.

"Like all automatic lockers, the "Aussie Locker' cannot be used in front axles of constant 4Wheel Drive vehicles. Some vehicle manufacturers offer a part-time 4WD option and automatic lockers can be installed. Some vehicle owners install part-time kits or use free wheeling hubs."

oh i guess its just for the full time 4wd

I know the conversation was about the 8.25 but i was just confused by what they had on their site. I Just dont know why they would even say its available for the front if right under that they say you cant use it.

Because they can still sell it to the idiot that doesn't take their advice

tjkj...I've heard a lot of stuff about the ECTED lockers...people either love 'em or hate 'em. know anything? That's what I was thinking about for the front to avoid the $1000+ to get an ARB in there.

Most hate them due to they have a clutch baised LSD that will wear out at about 20,000miles and nead to be rebuilt.

So if i was to get ahold of a steel carrier fron a D30 and add some more metal to the diff housing like Al did on his truck then is it workable? Oh an Troy, you got any new news about using the pinion from a D30(milled down) for the 30a yet?

The D30A carrier is steel also, just the housing is aluminum.

Not looking to make a D30 pinion work, looking to cut down a D30 to fit in the D30A's place.

well there that opens up two options. Do you know about how much longer the 30 pionion is over the 30a?

The D30A pinion is longer then a regular D30 pinion by about a 1" or so.

"Last week of June is the projected schedule at this time. We have our
fingers crossed as they have missed the schedule in the past. But they

are saying that the manufacturing is going well so that is a good sign."

quote from Aussie, I had emailed and was asking when they were planning on getting it out

lets hope they can make the deadline this time!
