well being that I have a 4cylinder I noticed some slight loss of power going up hill and yes I took a pretty good hit on MPG. but I also have a ton of weight with the steel bumpers and full armor etc.

I'm more concerned with the power loss than the MPG. Though I'm sure I will notice it my pocket, I would be more upset if it started feeling sluggish

to me the KJ power feels fine, its never been a peppy vehicle so I dont worry about it I can still pass other cars going 70mph with no problems. They way my KJ is right now I am averaging about 14mpg.

Is that highway and city combined? I'm averaging 20 mpg on the highway

I was averaging 23 before my lift, so I'm down 3 mpg. I suspect I will be down even more once I add my RL rear bumper, gecko rack, and taller tires. I’m hoping to end up around 18-19 mpg when it’s all said and done.

What tire brand are you looking at in a 235/85/16?

Stock tire 29"
245/75/16 30.7" = 1.7" larger, gives .85" of lift = some power/mpg loss.
235/85/16, 32" = 3" larger, gives 1.5" of lift = more power/mpg loss.

Is .65" difference in height for 235/85/16's worth the extra power/mpg loss to you? Regearing and set up for 4:10's is quite expensive just to bring back a little power/mpg. Think about it!

I suppose not, but having a bigger tire is nice all in itself, it may not be a huge difference, but hey, why not, if I'm ready to accept the mpg/power difference, they I should be able to get the biggest I can get. Now, the tires I'm looking at (not the best but ive seen them in action) are the kelly safari msr. I'm geting the tires for a pretty good price (if I do get them) $900 for 5 installed, and I figure if I do that this year, and turn out to hate them, or think there too big, or whatever, next year, I can alwayse get a different set. Or just regear when I lock :) LOL

OK here we go... When... No clue, likely roughly a year after I lift and get tires, so I have time to research and save. I figure since I am getting it locked,I can kill two birds and get it regeared at the same visit. But I have no plans for this yet LOL

Depends on the type of wheeling you do,that extra .65" can make a world of difference,I know this for a fact.

Something my wife mentioned that I never even though of  How stable on the highway would I be with a franky and 32" tires? This may be the only downfall, as it seems this is her main concern  That and being able to still climb into the Jeep :P
