Aloha All

Stop the rubbing - What has you done to elimiate rubbing by the rear wheels????
Rear Tires Rubbing on Door Fender

- Trim or Heat bend the fender

- Move back the rear axle

--Lower Control Arms
---Replace with Adjustable or longer fixed
---Modify - Mounting Points(Elongate holes, Weld on plate with new holes)

--Upper Boomerang Axle Mount
---Move back with washers - I took a look and it seems like it is possible to get some washers on the three bolts that connect the boomerang to the Pumkin, Possibly moving the upper portion of the pumkin up to 1/2 inch or more back.

Does it rub all the time? Or just when flexed? If its just when flexed I have some extended bumpstops on order to fix my rubbing. I could also make some here at the house, but didnt really know how tall to make them.

Yes, Bump Stops will help, but I want as little bump stop as needed , I want Max Flex so my tires need to be in the middle of the wheel well. Any other ideas how to do that?

Ask Jeeping Al. He has to get longer shaft and make other modifications to his in order to fit his experimental 5" lift.

I'm using Rubicon Express 3715 superflex adjustable lower control arms and a custom fabbed adjustable top link to recenter the wheels in the wells. The higher you lift it, the worse it gets into the back of the doors.

If you take a dremmel and cut 1/2' away the rubbing will stop. Open the rear door and remove the rubber molding ( you will need to buy replacemnt molding that attaches to the KJ itself and not the door like the old stuff ). Don't remove more than the 1/2"...that is all you will need.

I once wrote a long winded reply to this subject....I will spare all of you this forth night! :lol:

Just to say the short arms make the wheel droop in a tight radius, thus the wheel hits the back of the door. If you have a "short" lift of 2.5 to 3 inches, you can get adjustable arms and move the rear wheel back around an half an inch. This will move the pinion down ever so slightly which may or may not cause a vibration. Jeff Daniels Jeep in Pa. http://www.jeffdanielsjeeps.com/ has made a plate that will fit between the boomer-rang mount and the pumpkin which will correct the pinion angle, when you start moving things around in the back. I had Rusty's adjustable (still do) arms for around 40K, now. For the first 15K miles I had the stock upper ball joint in place, and the arms were adjusted about 1/4 to 3/8 back. It solved my rubbing problem. Now I have them set around 1-1.5 inches back, and I have had my diff protector hit my gas tank skid on one extreme flex. :shock:


It maybe just simplier to cut off the half inch as Darby sez!

Well, mine rubbed fairly badly on both sides and then they mysteriously stopped one day on Moab Rim Trail. Shortly thereafter one of the trail buddies behind me brought up two perfectly good front sections of Liberty rear fender flare. Apparently somebody had not needed them and left them on the trail. Well I was glad to have the extras in case mine start rubbing again. Crossing my fingers here that it has fixed itself.

Drill New Lower Control Arm Bolt Holes - Approx 1/2 to 3/4" from stock location

Add Washers (Approx 3/8th to a 1/2" worth of washers) and possibly longer bolts here (Three Bolts Total)
May have to do some grinding on the dampener bracket.

Well - Im thinking about doing it anyways. I just recieved my 1/2 rear spacers, Ill dropem in and try some rough trails to see if any difference. - KjHawaii

Whats interesting is on this test flex the tire stuffs perfectly.

The problem is when climbing up a hill it rubs. Any Ideas???

It doesnt look like that tire is stuffed all the way. When the other tire comes if off the ground is when it happens. Mine does the same thing, but I only have 30" tires? 5" BS though.

Thats some good droop on the front though. Did you unhook the sway bar?

Would be nice if All-J could fab up a little kit (no drilling) so we could push the wheels a little further back :-)

I don't even have any of the rear door trim it got ripped off while I was 'wheelin. Even the sheet metal lip in the rear fenderwell peeled away and tore the heck out of my rear tires so I cut it off w/a grinding wheel. I think KJs and rubbing go hand and hand :evil:
