long time no post here, but here goes nothing
Yes i have researched and can't find what i'm looking for. I remember something a while back, but it is not there anymore. So...

I have a 2002 Renegade Lifted with the OTT 2.5" Lift. Consequently, my struts are shot. I would like to replace them. Now i konw i had heard of people getting longer struts in the past, is this still something that works? If so does anyone have a part number to the struts they use with this lift. I desperately need to get this lift working properly. Now it's tearing up my front end, and i don't know what to do about it. So if longer struts don't work, what does? (without having to buy a whole new lift.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

You can get longer struts. Im not sure if that will fix your problem, I dont know much about that lift. You can call All J's to get either ome struts, or rancho struts.

What happens with the lift is that the distance between the bump stop and the upper A-arm is increased which allows the strut to fully compress before (or without) the A-arm hitting the bump stop. The solution is to decrease the gap either by extending the bump stop or adding something to the top of the A-arm. Once you do that, the bump stop will do it's job thus preserving your struts.

This has been mentioned in similar topics. This is what I did with a few pieces of heater hose and zip ties. Works great.

The only longer struts are OME. I would just get rid of that lift and get some ranchos and a daystar lift or a coil lift.

Adam,
when you change your struts, just get a pair of H.D. 2" lift coils from Rusty's and swap out the front OTT spacer. You can keep the rear as it is.

By the way, be sure to check your upper and lower ball joints as they may be going bad and just replace it all if needed while you have it apart.

Thanks for clearing that up priell3. Are you sure the rancho struts are not longer jeepkj02?

Thats a nice getto setup also!!! :lol: Why do they not give you longer bumpstops if they know its going to destroy the strut? Ill never understand what some engineers are thinking? Like the ones that designed our balljoints? Maybe they wanted DC to pay for a recall or something? Idk...

Crude but effective. :wink: It was something I just threw together as an experiment when I found the piece of hose
laying around in my pile of junk. After I put it on, I went out and tested it and found it to be very effective.
It is 3/4" inside diameter, 1" outside heater hose which should withstand heat and wear. Just two 4" sections tightly tied around a 12" section, then zip tied to the a-arm in 3 places.

While my lift includes the top spacer, it also came with new front springs so that may be why my struts
are holding up after 1 year and 8K miles.

If you have to buy new struts then the cost of them is no point so all you have to think as far as money is how to fix the problem
If I were you I would just buy the rustys springs and some daystar or whom ever makes them bump stop extensions
Then you dont have to worry about any more problems from the OTT lift cause a rear spacer is fine IMO

Thanks guys for the help, so to clarify, if i get the two new coils from Rusty's, then will i still need to extend the bump stops? That doesn't seem to be a big problem to do. Am i right? Again, thanks for all the help, i have to get my Liberty to stop riding like a boat.
