Hey guys. Just seeing what kind of interest there would be here for some diff covers for the 8.25 rear axle. The diff covers are complete replacement covers, not just something that bolts over the stock cover, like the half covers (Warn, Rustys), tube covers, and rock rings (Poison Spyder). These are made of A50 plate steel, which is rated at 50,000 PSI Tensil strength, not that regular mild steel. They are made of a 3/8" thick diff ring, and the diff plate is formed and welded from one piece of 3/8" thick plate, and they have 1" Diameter fill plugs.

Any interest? How much would you expect to pay for this piece of armor compared to the other popular brands?

similar products sell for the 160-200 price range.... theres the Crane High one :

they charge 190....so somewhere similar would be nice, maybe 170s?


are you expecting to have these out in the next few months? if so ill be getting one of these or the crane high one

Actually, I believe the Crane covers are cast steel, so they would be more expensive, but those are nice covers. These are available NOW. I am a distibutor for a company that makes these (no time to build myself, too much competition). Just testing the interest in these to see if you guys wanted to do a group buy thing. Prices wouldn't be a huge difference, but the more I get at once, I will lower the price $5 at a time. These diff covers weight about 14lbs each. They do work with the ARB air lockers and they only stick out about 1/2" at the very most more than the stock cover, so you can go outside and do some measuring to make sure you have nothing back there by the diff and gas tank that will get hit by something that sticks out an extra 1/2".

I sell them normally for $110 SHIPPED. If you guys want to do a group buy where I can buy a big batch at once, I will go $105 shipped for 10+ orders and $100 shipped for 20+ orders. Do these numbers have anyones attention?

well, considering i was going to pay 79 + shipping for the RRO one....and its only a half guard

im in for these....definitly....too bad i cant go check the clearances though, im in iraq, so ill take a chance

like kolsey was asking : do they come powdercoated? also, do they come with the sealant and hardware (if any new bolts or anything)?

but yeah RockLizard put me down for one , ill start the list.

Add a recessed drain plug and you won't be able to keep them in stock. All the CRD owners would buy them flat out with our required 12,500 mile drain interval requirements. Our only option now is an aluminum cover made by PML that would crack in a heart beat off road.

Same as the fill plug shown. It should screw into the diff cover and be "somewhat" flush. Doesn't have to be perfect, but ANY heavy duty diff cover with a drain plug would be a huge seller. It would appeal to way more than just the offroading crowd.

if the cover is 3/8 plate steel, there is plenty of meat there to drill and tap for a 1/4 or 3/8 pipe plug.....there is the drain plug.

I like the idea. Would like it better with a drain plug. I could add that myself at work, but not everyone who wants one will have that option.

How often do rear covers get trail damage? I would think you would have to back into something, or can it just come down on an obstacle. Seriously, this is an honest question.

3/8 plate is probably overkill for most people unless you are trying to stop bullets. :wink: It would take threaded plugs well though without having to add a thread boss.

Rolling backwards into a rock, or dragging the stock diff over a rock can catch the diff cover and peel it open. I don't know how often it happens - probably would not peel off for me as I hate rock courses.

Seriously, I just want a good one with a drain plug, otherwise I won't be interested. And I don't what to add the drain plug myself - I like to buy a complete product and just use it.

X2 and I would be more than happy to pay a bit extra for the drain plug to be done for me. Don't have the tool or the time really.
