I have the 45"x60" Surco and love it. This is the second one I have had. The first being on my Cherokee. Its aluminum so it will not rust and is lighter weight. It lends it self easily to modification. I have custom made mounts for my Hi-lift, front off road lights and rear backup lights as well. To mount I used U-bolts and attached to the OEM rails. See the last photo.
This link will show you close ups of the U-bolt mounts, lights and wiring. http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e176/W3CSX/KCs/ Jason |

Does the 45" Surco hang over the side of your OE rails? Are those custom u-bolts or did they come with the basket? Thanks, |

Jason, can you individually control each lamp from those switches to the left of your steering wheel? |

But, only when I'm board. unixxx wrote: Jason, can you individually control each lamp from those switches to the left of your steering wheel? The switches are L-R. Back-up lights manual on / off / auto on when in reverse; driving lights on the bumper on with high beams / off; spot and flood lights(the four on the front of the basket) on / off; and on-board air compressor on /off. Are those custom u-bolts or did they come with the basket? Thanks, The 45" rack hangs over just about 2 to 3" on each side. Surco’s web site recommends the 40". I tried it first but the cross rails on it will not cover the OEM bars. One the front they miss by 1/2". The basket it self is narrower than the factory rails and I thought it looked goofy. This rack is no wider than the jeep and looks more robust. The U-bolts I made. Have to admit I stole the idea from JeepinAl. I will see if I have a head on shot so you can see the over hang. Jason |

LostRenegade, This is about the best head on shot I have. You can somewhat see the overhang from this pic.
If you want I can get a direct square shot tomorrow. It’s already too dark here on the right coast. Jason |

I am thinking about getting a 50"x 60", but not sure if it is going to be to big. What are your suggestions? |

You could get 60inches long but I would not get the 50 inch wide. I didn't get the 60 inch one as the 45 was on sale. Plus, I usually load up tons of heavy things in there, so I wanted a slightly smaller package. I've already ordered the additional flooring kit just to strengthen the whole thing up. At 50 inches you would have to cut the cross bars that come with the basket as they stick out about 2-3 inches on each side. I also believe the basket would be slightly bigger than the rails. |

For what it is worth, here are 48" Yakima cross bars. As you can see 48" is beyond the side rails so 50" would stick out more, 45" less: |

Okay as primmest. Here are pics of the overhang.
Jason Oh I stand corrected it is a 45" x 50". The longer one will work too. But, will stick almost out to the windshield. |

BVG has since been bought out by either Thule or Yakima and they have discontinued the model. It is called a "BVG Adventure Rack". You may be able to find one on ebay. |

I believe the sunroof actually retracts INTO the roof as opposed to outside the roof so I don't think it will affect the opening or closing, I reckon just the viewing if you decide to place it over the top of it... |
