| Post subject: | Mopar Front Tows HELP ! |
Hi ALL. I'm a new owner to a 2003 Liberty KJ Rocky Mountain Edition. I must say that I love this website. I've been reading for a few weeks now and have learned a lot. You guys are great. Here's my question. I have purchased Mopar Front Tow Hooks. The instructions say to remove the licence plate, 5 screws from the wind barrier and then throw in the "M" brackets and bolt all together. Well that's not my case. For one: I don't have 5 screws holding any wind barrier. Second, when I try to access the two holes for the "M" bracket, it's impossible. It's steel all around and there is no way to gain access. I have pushed my hands all around that and no luck. Do I have to remove the bumper ????? The hole with the metal insert is no problem but the 2 holes for the "M" bracket are impossible. Is there a trick ?????? BTW: Did I say what a great website ? and what a proud owner I am ? I love the JEEP |

Welcome!! Glad you like the site!!! Thats the reason they are in the shape of an M. You fish the bolt up and through one hole while holding the other end of the bolt. Its been a while since I put mine on so I cannot really remeber all the steps. I do remember thinking that one of those ratcheting wrenches would of been nice. Some people remove the bumper, but I didnt really see a reason for it. I installed mine on Christmas day right after Santa dropped them off, wasnt very bad at all. |

Hi. Well Fishing definitely fixed the problem. I think I'll read the user's manual better next time. Thanks. I just need to get a shorter socket, and I'm good to go......the jeep looks much better now.... thanks |

Looks more like a real Jeep, doesn't it? (Not that KJ's aren't real Jeeps. But you know what I'm saying.) Welcome to the forums. |

Yes it looks much better. I finished the install today and I must say that the access is SO tight that getting a wrench in there is nearly impossible. You have to be very very creative I was swearing and cursing but finally got it done.... Thanks for all the help |
