Post subject:  FrankenLift or Skyjacker Platinum??

My mechanic says the Skyjacker is just as good as the Frankenlift but cost less. and that I should get Skykjacker Platinum. Anybody have either and care to comment? I am about to do the lift and am confused by all the options. Also too. Is Al's A-arm replacement really help take the tension off the joints and do I get more flex because of it???

Does your mechanic have a Liberty? Does he have any experience with a Frankenlift?

I don't have any experience with the Skyjacker, but I can tell you the Frankenlift works. Yes, Al's upper a arms take stress of the UBJs and allow more flex by allowing the wheel more downward travel without contact.

For that kind of jack I'd go with the Frankenlift. Comes w/the strut assemblies put together....the upper strut plate.......no BS "soft ride" rear shocks....tried and true reputation......and the legendary service that AllJ provides.

Here is the real question, is your mechanic a Skyjacker dealer, or an All J dealer? Skyjacker may be a little less, but a mechanic will be more inclined to push a product they will make more money on, so even if he has no personal experience with either kit on a KJ, then he is blowing smoke up your butt. I'm not saying he is like this, so please don't get offended if he is a friend or anything, but there can be motives. I don't have experience with the SJ Platinum on the KJ, but I do have personal experience with the Frankenlift, and plenty of personal experience with Skyjacker, Rancho, ProComp, Full Traction, Rubicon Express, Rusty's, OME, and several other suspensions I can't think of off the top of my head for Cherokees and Wranglers. OME is worth every penny. Skyjacker has been around for a very long time, but now you pay more for the name than the quality. Skyjacker does not hold a candle anywhere close to OME, which is what is in the Frankenlift. Take that however you wish. Oh, and I have been in a local KJ several times with an older SJ setup, and it is not even close to the quality of the Frankenlift, but I don't know what the Platinum kit consists of.

Good thoughts RL...I've had both on my rig. I removed the SJ in favor of the Frankenlift and I am glad I did. The Frankenlift has been awesome. I did have some problems with the SJ that prompted the change...

I have the Skyjacker Platinim set-up. The only problem I have had is a blown shock.(which they replaced immediatly) I havn't driven/rode in a Frankenlifted KJ so I can't compare. But I have wheeled with a lot of guys with the Frankinlifts and have not seen any differnce in travel and such.

I love my frankenlift with AL's arms.

What ever lift you get AL's arms are going to help.
