Post subject:  Dilemma after lift...

Hey everyone,

Sooooo, it's getting close to ordering time for the Rusty's coil lift, Rancho rear shocks, and new tires. I have '02 Renny and was wondering what everyone thinks and if anyone has any pics of......do you think it looks better with the factory (for lack of a better description) "running boards" or steps on or off? I think they look alright now with them on, but I'm wondering if it will look better with them off, giving the perception of more ground clearance.

Pics would be great if ya got em!

P.S. sorry for the terrible wording and framented sentences, but I'm pretty much half asleep right about now!!! :? :P

Thanks everyone!

Steps off. IMHO it will look better and If you decide to wheel you will probably rim them off anyhow.

My Renegade had the side steps. Before I had the lift I didn't really like how they looked. Sorta like floatation devices since they were so wide and low to the ground. After the lift, they looked a whole lot better and I actually liked them (and they helped the family get in and out).

Without them, the appearance of ground clearance is pretty impressive. I've since swithced to the Mopar rock rails. If you plan to wheel, just remove the running boards before you go (8 bolts per side).

That last pic is sweet. So shiny!... Out of all the Libertys, the Black Renegades look the best to me.

If you wheel then take em off. I routinely take mine on and off depending on what I am doing with the KJ. My daughter has an easier time getting in and out of the KJ with em on. I now have a set of RRO step rail sliders so the Renny steps will be gone for good. Oh and BTW...I have bent the factory steps while wheeling....hit a rock and bent them right back into my rear right tire....it was awesome!

I have a 04 black renegade and it looks way better without the steps on. I had the factory rock rails, which looked good in silver, but offroaded them once and scratched and gouged them all up.

I now have a set of boulder bars on there and they look way better.

Yeah! Black does look good. I almost wish I had gotten a Black one instead of Light Khaki.

Thanks a TON for this write up!! Yep, they're definitely coming right off as soon as the lift install is complete! That second pic you have, with the lift and no factory rails, is pretty frickin sweet.

Thanks again, man. I really appreciate it!

That's a sweet Rene too. I'll make sure I get a cardomain page up and running once I get the lift and tires.

I've got a silver one which I like, but that black is slick lookin. That may have to be the next color I get.
