Post subject:  J.E. Reel CVs.............

.......came to my house by "Big brown truck" yesterday. It's hard for me to comprehend but I did the drivers side in an hour. The J.E. Reel pieces look nice, but we'll see how they live. Although, they are reputed to be six times stronger than stock.

You can pick a set of these up from JeepinAl:

Don't tell my wife they're on her fancy table cloth.

While I was under there, I got a really good survey of the damage from Crozet and took some pictures. The worst of the bunch had to be the Skidrow Tcase skid. It's destroyed, taco'ed; I don't know if it can be saved but I'm going to try and make it bomb proof. This picture doesn't do it justice, but I'll take another pic when I take it off:

Amazingly, the All Js SuperSkid even had a bend in it right in front of the crossmember. I'm going to easily bend it back in shape:

The gas tank skid took a great blow while I was being winched. It's not the bend that bothers me, it's that their laser cut logo on the plate broke. It's an easy fix, but the laser cut is way too close to an edge:

I've got until the end of October to get it ready to do it again.

Dude, you did some serious damage to that rig! Your one crazy guy! Can you can a difference in the new Cv's and the old ones? Do they feel like they weigh more or anything?

Send a picture to Skid Row and tell them about the damage and suggest they make their logo cut smaller....maybe even replace the skid.

i agree thats the first thing that came to mind when i saw that. I can understand putting your product name on there but when it bends and breaks the metal there... not good.

PS- Mutt did you do any sort of write up on the CV install? That would be nice.

Just a couple questions to go along w/ this subject...Are you guys having problems w/ the stock CVs after lifting your rigs?? I've seen pics w/ alot of flex and I guess I was just wondering how they hold up after the lift. Anyone break any stockers yet? Mutt you have the frankenlift right?

I've just read that most people who install a 2.5" lift were finding that their CVs were pretty flexed. I just wondered if these were to cure that problem. I plan to get a franken lift and I won't always use if for offroad purposes (like some do), I will drive it to get around...I guess I just wanted to know how the stockers would up w/ that much flex.

They seems to do purty good, if you dont want to worry about them then rustys lift is another good lift. It doesnt lift it as high as the franken lift so you wouldnt need to worry about the cv's.
