| Post subject: | Rusty's KJ 1/2" Strut Plate Install |
Does anyone have first hand experience installing the strut plate from Rusty's that gives 1/2" of lift? I will be installing mine this weekend and was wondering how the install should go. I'm assuming that I would have to undo the upper ball joint, clevis and then remove the strut. Does this sound right? Thanks, |

I can't exactly remember but I think with that plate you can get away without taking all that apart. You may be able to just jack up the vehicle, remove the tire, remove the top bolts from the strut in the engine compartment and pull the strut down while everything is still attached...slip the plate on top and rebolt the thing in. I think it will work if ya just play with it a little. Good luck |

It pays to take the time & do things thoroughly. You've gone to the trouble of undoing it all so you may as well just slide the strut out. Inspect the top nut ect, clean out the dirt & put on your plate. no big fuss.

You have to move the airbox and the battery tray to get to the bolts. I unbolted the clevis from the lower control arm and the coil & shock just dropped down and I placed the plate on top and bolted everything back up. One side note, Rusty's holes were just a little off and I had to drill out one of the holes on each plate to make them fit. He used some HARD metal. Other than that, no problems. |

Same thing like nomad said. My holes were a little off as well. That is some strong booty metal they used. Luckily I had a drill press at my disposal! |

For those who have installed these, do they give 0.5" of lift, more, less? Also, being that they are on top of the strut assembly, does it worry anyone that they'd have a negative affect like some of the top strut spacer lifts out there? Or are this small enough to not cause a problem? |
