Sorry to start a new thread but I'm coming down to crunch time.

This guy on ebay that I bought my tires and wheels from last Fall for my truck is offering me another pretty sweet deal and I want to see if this combo sounds good with you modified Liberator's out there.

I'm still unclear as to what is the best budget spacer lift, but what is clear is that the 2.5" lift seems standard. That being said, I'm looking at some pretty killa' rims, they are 17x9's, with 5.71 BS. He's telling me that from the mounting plate to the lip of the rim, it will sit 4.29 inches out from the mounting plate.(does this sound right?) I'm wondering if this will look good or not, and whether or not I can mount some Nitto Terra Grappler AT in a 265/70-17 under it. Overall it's roughly a 31" tire size. I want to get an aggressive stance type look, but I don't want it looking like a mexican hoopty straight out of Los Angeles. (no offense to any mexican's, I love burrito's :P )

$1354 gets me these bad@ss rims, lug nuts, center caps, tires mounted, balanced and shipped to my door. They are the KMC Hoss wheels, all black with chrome spots here and there, really nice looking! Wish I could post a picture but I don't know how...

Deal or no Deal? :P

if you're going to get a daystar or a revtek, the 31's should work. the rim doesn't sound like it would fit well, but i'm no expert. could you find a shop up your way that has these rims, or something similar? the best way to answer this is to set one up there... i'm also not a chrome fan, so i choked when i saw the price, but hey, as long as it stays on the road...

Definately check the backspacing with a tire shop, taking your lift into consideration....that is the one thing I screwed up on when buying my wheels.....Now I have to put longer lug bolts in at some point to make it look right and take care of some very minor rubbing at full lock issues.

Nice combo but the backspacing sound a little funny to me too. Stock is 5.5" of BS. Sounds to me like these will sit even closer to inside than that. Based on your previous posts that is not what you are looking for. Other than that, your KJ will be blingin'.

Overall a 265/70/17 is like 31.7" and a center section of 10.6" with 5.71 B.S. just ain't gonna be a good fit. You'll rub on the upper BJ., the swaybar and all over the front.
If you're intent on 17" tires, try dropping in size to a 255/70/17 31.1" and a center section of 10.1" should work just barely with the 5.71 B.S. rims. Find out if the rims come in a 5"-5.5" B.S., would be better.

I don't like that I can only buy 4 tires and they don't sell'em individually, not that I was going to :P . I guess you could buy 2 sets, spare for the door and 3 extras in case you slice a tire wheeling?
Really like those rims too. If they fit properly, it will be a nice lookign set-up.

Yeah, my computation for a 265/70 17 makes them 31.84 inches. Of course, every tire manufacturer is different (a lot of so-called 33s are only 31 + or 32 overall), but you're pushing it. Some peple rub with 31s and a 2 1/2 inch lift. Also, I think the stock wheel backspacing is 4 1/2 inches; less may be OK but more than that might cause rubbing or actual grinding problems. Too bad you can't buy on an approval basis after trying to fit one.
