Post subject:  Liberty Light Bar

I have an 03 Liberty Sport with a sunroof, I want to purchase the Mopar Light Bar for the roof. How do I run the wiring through the roof ? Does the kit come with instructions ? Also will the renagade roof rack fit also? Thanks ,Rich....

The lightbar and roof basket will fit even with the sunroof. Others have installed the lightbar and can post their experience.
Or just search the posts.

I recently put the light bar on my wifes jeep. The kit I got off of ebay which was the complete kit, came with everything. The wiring is ran through a hole you must drill in the roof, it goes down the "A" piler behind the plastic cover and then the switch is mounted on the left side of the steering wheel. The indicator light for when it is on is drilled into the side of the gauge shroud, and some of the wiring is plugged into the fuse block and the main power wires ran from the battery and throught he fire wall. The instructions sucked, it was nothing but pictures, so it took me a little bit to figure out.

I did the same thing with those instructions. I never quite understood the bolts in step 15.. the tool they gave was very cryptic.

Also a small suggestion, use RTV (or some type of Sealant) where you put in these holes!! I forgot at first and had a nice leak on my passenger side after it rained

I have an 05 Rennie with the light bar and sunroof from the factory, and there is plenty of room for a roof rack. The instructions suck, and make sure you measure, double-check and triple-check before you cut that hole in your roof.

Instead of removing the cluster for that indicator light you can save some time and put it next to the switch.I did this and I think it looks better and was a faster install time.

fig man

I did mine over the summer.
This is what I did.
After I drilled out the holes, I took sand paper and cleaned up around the holes and sprayed primer on the holes to stop the formation of rust. Then just before I placed the bottom of the light bar on the roof, I used RVT sealant on every hole after I inserted the nutzerts. I made sure everything was covered. USED ALOT!!!! This way when I put the screws in place, the RVT sealant would make a seal around the screws that hold down the bottom plate. Also I used a ton around the half inch hole for the wires. After all of that, I ran a bead of seal on the bottom of the light bar plate. ALOT AGAIN! As the screws were making the plate tight, it would force the sealant out from the bottom and would leave you no open space for water to go to.

That is what I did and I do not have any problems with water leaking into the cab.

oh yea, the cut sheet really sucks. I looked at it for days before I built up enough nerve to do the job.

I think I would rather just get a roof basket & mount lights to that. Cheaper & easier.
