You probably didn't get the lever fully engaged...it takes a very stiff pull with just a tounch of throttle...I used to do it in neutral...been so long I can't remember |

our '03 has never had a problem with going in 4lo we have the t-case with full time 4 high and part time ,dont know wich one it is called how ever my '02 TJ with the np231 has a small issue with 4lo it must be rolling to get in and out read the book in the glove box it tell's you the correct way for your case I can tell you this if we dont use 4lo for a few months it is a little "stiff" going in but it goes in and stays in it will come down to getting it in right the first time also IMO 95% of the time when you are wheelin you should be in 4lo and very very rarely using 4hi because you will be going to fast and banging on every little bump but in 4lo you can crawl better |

I agree with Darby. Sounds like it's not in 4 lo all the way. Mine goes in and out of 4Lo real easy if I'm stopped and in neutral. If i'm rolling I get a clunk. |

I got it into 4WD Lo...the lever is just sometimes hard to engage...because you have to pull it at an angle and over to get it engaged. When it slipped out I put it back in Neutral and pulled it right back into Lo. I was using Lo because as you said Jason...thats all you need for offroading. It's been a while since it had been in Lo so maybe it was hard going at first. I'll make sure it goes in all the way next time. |

For Command-Trac, put trannty shifter into N and slow down to 2-3 mph (crawling). While rolling forward, firmly yank the T-case lever back two notches, right, and then down. Put the tranny shifter back in D, and you're good to go. |

Im not sure about the Liberty but on other 4wd's I have been in nothing will happen, BUT if you put in in drive and then try to shift the xfer case it will make some horrible noises and you will feel like crying |
