Hey everyone,

Just curious if anyone else has experienced a slight driveshaft vibe after installing a lift on the KJ. Definitely not the tires. The vibe seems to occur right @ 2k RPM. I thought I read somewhere here that Mutt might have had the same vibe, but not sure. It's not bad enough to be a concern, but definitely there enough to be kind of annoying. We did the clevis lift in the front and an extra upper spring isolator for the rear. The KJ is an '02 Rene that was factory "lowered".

Thanks for any help, guys!!!

I'm running probably almost 3.5" in the rear and no vide. I know a few others are running Rusty's with an extra inch of spacers and no complaints either.

Hmmm, I wonder if it's an issue with the '02's? Not sure at this point. I'll keep paying attention to it and see if I can figure anything out on it. Thanks for the response though!

Did a search, and it sounds like it may be the U-Joints since the vibe is only there while on the gas. I'll keep looking. Any other input would be great. Thanks everyone!

I am running same lift (Rusty, clevis in front, isolators in rear). I have not noticed any vibe.

Ok guys, here's an update FWIW.

Yesterday I talked to a guy at Rusty's (maybe Rusty himself?) and he said that they have not heard of any reports of a driveshaft vibe after the coil lift install. He said if I or the dealership can't pinpoint it, to give him a call back.

SO, today I stopped at the dealership for my appointment and had them check it out. I also asked while they were under it if they could remove one rear upper spring isolator from each side, since I'm running two per side with the clevis in the front. The front has settled a bit more and I wanted the KJ to sit more level.

The dealerships bright conclusion was that the vibe was caused by the lift changing the driveshaft angle. I made sure to tell them that I seem to be the only one with this lift and the driveshaft vibe. They also said that they could not remove the spring isolator on each side in the rear and that I'd have to take it to where I had the lift put on. I told them that removing one spring isolator per side would be basically returning the rear to stock as far as isolators go. They weren't budging. I think I may have to actually fill out that comment card this time!

Sooooo, I'm just a bit frustrated at this point, being the ONLY ONE with this driveshaft vibe from the Rusty's lift. I've got 245/70 and am even debating if they'll fit if I go back to stock. I really would like to keep the lift, but get rid of the vibe.

Rant over........for now!

Ok, so you don't feel all alone. I also got vibes. I just got new rear HD ome springs and I got alot of vibration with just one spacer. I took the spacers off and it rides alot smoother now.

If the vibe started after the lift was installed, then that is your problem. Take the extra isolators off and see if the vibe goes away. If not, take it wheelin to settle the rear springs a little more.

Every jeep will react differently to a lift. Some get 2.5" and some get 3.25" from the same springs. You might have got a better than average lift. Putting the isolators on probably put you over the top.

Awesome, thanks BakerKJ!! Actually, that does make me feel a bit better! Cool that you're in Lake County!! I'm in Vernon Hills right now! I'll probably look at taking the extra isolator out ASAP, just need an extra set of hands. How tough do you think it would be to remove one isolator per side? BTW, I don't call myself a newb for nothin, if ya couldn't already tell!

Thanks again, man. I really appreciate it!

It is really easy. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes. Pm me if you want a hand. I might have some time Sunday after work.

Did you take it to Liberty auto city?

Sounds great. I might have to take you up on that offer. Sunday afternoon is looking booked, but we'll talk about it, definitely. I've only bought parts from Liberty Auto City. I actually live just across the border in WI, but my fiance is in Vernon Hills. I usually go to Palmen Motors in Kenosha. Every time I've gone there, I've been really happy. Today was a different story, unfortunately.

Thanks again!

I saw earlier you were concerned about 2002's having a vibe with the Rustys lift. I have a 2002 Sport, Rusty's coil lift and the MTR 245/75's and I do not have a vibration issue.

Cool, thanks for the input EagleVT94. Yeah, I'm pretty much stumped on it. Bakerkj was kind enough to offer to help remove one of the upper rear spring isolators on each side. I'm currently running two on each side. Hopefully that will help a bit. Bakerkj also suggested doing some good wheelin to get the rear to settle a bit more.

Thanks again!
