Rusty's + Grabber AT2s = Nirvana!

I just installed the Rusty's Coil lift and a set of Grabber AT2s (245/70-R16). What a difference! Clearance of front skid before...6.5" Clearance after lift...9.5" Rear diff clearance after...8.5" (Forgot tp measure before.) Although theoretically the tires are only 1/2 inch bigger than the stockers, I gained the full 1/2 inch from the new Grabbers. ( I should have only gained 1/4") I kept the Crapyears to sell since they have very little mileage on them. Point being that since I can see them off of the car I now know that the sidewalls on the Wranglers might as been made from bologna skin because they crush so easily. I've never seen such a crappy tire. I'm thinking that although I should have only gained 1/4", I actually gained 1/4" from tire radius, and another 1/4" from how much less the Grabbers crush compared to the Crapyears crushfest under the weight of the Libby.. I'm not complaining....a full 3" will come in handy.

New tires and kit make the Libby feel much, much more stable. Very pleased.

PS Yes, I am using the rear shocks from the kit. BUT...I went out and bought proper sized washers (ones sized for the 1/2 bolts that secure the shock) and made sure that there was not any gap between the shock and the mounts. I also put a thin layer of grease in between the washers and the mounts as a preventative measure against squeaking. Time will tell. Looks (and sounds) good so far.

I have right around 9.5in under my front skid with the rustys lift also. I have the same size tires and everything.

Did you do a clevis lift?

I put one conduit spacer in there so it would match the gap that was there on the stock struts.

Congrats on the transformation. I have those heavy-arse Grabber AT2's on my KJ. They make a world of difference.

Any reason why you stayed with the ratio of 70 rather than 75? How does the Jeep feel with the heavier tires?

I did not go with the 75s because I did not want to alter the speedo and power much. Many people complain that overdrive is useless with the bigger, heavier tires and their MPG drops. I figured that I was already gaining 14 lbs. per wheel so why compound the increased weight with a bigger diameter tire. I've got 9.5" inches under the front skid. The loss of power, MPG, and speedo change was not worth the additional 1/2" clearance I would gain with the 75s.

You do feel the weight of the tires but added stability because of the stiffness of the sidewalls offsets any ill effects of the added weight. ANYTHING is better than those bologna skin Wranglers!
