I like what you did to the Mechanica wheels...I am going to do the same to mine in GunMetal Grey to Match the cladding on the Sport Model. It would be really trick to add two pieces of steel braided cable/wire from the roof edges to the top of the exoskeleton on each side to keep branches from hitting the hood and winshield...could be done with some simple eyescrews...could take off easily when not needed. I wonder where you are going to put the exit on a snorkel with the exoskeleton near the fenders? It would be a kewl idea to run it thru the firewall and enter a scoop on the roof...the kind of scoops you see on the rear engine vehicles. It could peek out between the roof lights, long and low. Is the "long range fuel tank" the one they make in Australia? Some company there made a tank that allowed close to 50 gallons and acted as a rear skid at the same time. I would bet that you could get some coverage/$$$ from KC with all those lights. Do you have an interanl wire wall inside the cargo area? Looks like it holds your Hi-Lift, Shovel ect. and keeps it from flying your way. Well I better stop looking...it is burning my eyes |

Let me know if you need a co-driver, i'm sure you might already have one planned though....been watching that event for the last 4 years and love it....researched old videos of it on line and even play the Paris-Dakar PS2 game....of course nothing like the reality but talk about terrain and negotiating co-driver directions...will be quite an adventure...Best of Luck and Godspeed....one day i might just attempt the same as you.... |

What are your specs on that exoskeleton? That is sweet. I was thinking about putting one on mine integrating with RL front and rear bumpers. Although that's still 2-3 years away until i pay it off. |

Is it petrol or Diesel ? Man you're going to need a power upgrade regardless of what engine to push all that extra weight !! HAve you done a proper alternator upgrade yet ? Wiring looms replaced with thicker guage wire ? Have you done SYE style kit yet ? Gears ? If you are serious about the Dakar, i'd be looking at making a strong kick booty IFS for the front (if it were me). The handling bonus and high speed stability (which is what you want on that rally) is of the highest importance. We've all seen those couple of pics from Total Chaos Fabrication lurking around this forum, i'd be going for that without hesitation. Great work mate, you're truey a dedicated KJ fan........ |

Nice ride bro....looking sharp....the Paris Dakar....that is a dream of mine to run Spain to Morroca Expedition. Owning an Expeditionary Grouop, we'd love to see you over at KJ Expeditionary Group to. Keep us updated on your progress! Although I'm in Canada, I'm from the Birmingham Area in the UK...good to see another Brit on board! |

Wow, that's a great looking piece of hardware. I like the way you have your shovel and stuff mounted on that grille inside the cargo bay. Overall, a really nice looking unit. |

Thanks guys for all the positive comments. To answer some of the questions/comments: The wheels are currently stock...but custom powdercoated black by a friend of mine! I'll change them when the uprated suspension/transmission package goes on. I had thought of putting steel braided cable as tree branch protectors...will do it during phase 3 in Jan Snorkel is going on in Jan....will be custom steel tubing entering above side rail on right (drivers) side. Will need trimming of hood and side panel to create a custom fit but I've seen the plans and they look good! Will have 'Ram effect' top and sealed racing box/filter. Leaves lots of space where the stock air box fits which will be used for secong battery tray. Fuel tank will be custom aluminium...I won't fit it till SFA done. Had thought about custom IFS but to be honest it's just too expensive IMO. SFA has been done and we know it works so will go that route. Design being worked out is bombproof though....D60's, Atlas III, custom drive shafts, double cardon joints, etc. Coil overs will be adjustable though so I will be able to adjust ride height for terrain. Want to go 37's but might settle for 35's....will have to see. Fender flairs will go and be replaced by tube flairs...CDS tube like cage with chequer plate tops. CDS tubing will allow me to link up to cage at top. External cage is custom by a company in north of UK http://www.protectionandperformance.co.uk/ Great guys..good value for money and willing to take on anything! The internal cage will be full competition spec and will massively strengthen the already strong unibody. Will do it at same time as SFA so cage, reinforced sub frame and suspension all work well. Overhead console designed for a Wrangler will go in and the interior trim will be customised! External cage will be finished when rear is tied into custom bumper and tube flairs. Haven't touched current diff's or gearing yet...no point spending money there now when it's all coming out soon! Need more power for sure...not too bad but hopefully someone will look at strengthening engine components and supercharging so that will be last job. May have to consider engine transplant if not! Anyone know if stock tranny is up to task? If not is it modifiable? Or can you recommend a strong alternative...want to stick with auto if possible. Got a Mean Green Alternator on order....and wiring looms are all uprated to take current. Have a custom built rear shelf very similar to the one from AllJ's. And I modified the Mopar 'dog guard' into a wire equipment frame. Got all my medical kit, dive kit, off road kit and rescue euipment all custom mounted. I'll post more pics soon...just need a free moment...working like a dog at moment. All in all hope to get everything done in next 12 months....although I may well be out of country for a while (deployed) so may push things back...although will free up more funds!!! Rob ps. Yeah I put all lights on one night and stood in front!!! Blinded myself....it's light looking at the sun! |

Since you have an 02 libby, you have the 45rfe tranny which is the same tranny thats behind the hemi.. It will do just fine in your libby. There are shift kits that you can get for it. There are also pistons, cams, intakes, throttle bodies, and a reprogramed computer to name a few. Contact Kyliberty for info on all that. |
