Hey, guys im still awaiting my skid plate from Rusty's...it was a christmas gift and was wondering if i could get your thoughts on it. Difficult to install? any of you just paint over the skid plate's original coating with a different color? For starters is this a good piece of armor to get?

IT IS AWSOME I have rusty's full armour and think it is the best made for the kj.I went rock crawling at paragon and was hitting and bang all kind's of rock's and when I got home to check them out you could hardly tell they were hit.As far as installing them it is a breeze they use the factorty cross member bolt's in the rear and one factory bolt in the cradle and they supply one evtra long bolt for the otherside of the craddle.I did all three of mine in abut one hour.I am geting a prototype skid for the front on the libby made up that will extened up to the bottom of the bumper so look for that to hit production (maybe)

A skid that extended out to protect the bottom of the front bumper would be nice.

Would be fun getting to that oil filter though.

I bought that skid with the T/C skid and the gas tank skid, all from Rusty's. Their gas tank skid is beefy, I love it. I had to cut it, though, to fit it with my hitch receiver. The T/C skid it fine, nothing great but it has yet to bend on me. The engine/oil pan skid it CRAP in my opinion. I bent it pretty bad the first time offroad. I thought it would only bow in so far, but eventually it bent INTO my oil pan when on some rocks. The entire drive home my KJ made this horrible raspy sound during acceleration, because the skid was holding up against the pan and even bent it in about a 1/8th of an inch. I was not happy, needless to say. So I got out the torch and heated the skid, then proceeded to beat it with a sludge hammer. It's, straight...but it still bends easy with the KJ's weight on rocks. If you are ever on the rocks, you picked the wrong E/T skid. I'm getting All-J's Super Skid soon enough.

Why did you have to cut your skid to put the hitch on for?I put a hitch on with my rusty's skid and it was a direct bolt on.And as far as the front skid they are cutting a hole for the filter like the factory.

To fit it with the hitch, I had to put the skid up to the bolt holes, then put the hitch up underneath and around the skid, then bolt all of it on. To fit the hitch over the skid and get it properly aligned to the bolt holes, I had to cut a section towards the front of each side it and then again when I noticed my muffler was rattling against it, on the passenger's side obviously. I think I have a Mopar hitch, it was part of the towing package.
