Hey here in Ok we dont normally get much snow so 10-12s is alot for us. Last night I was driving home about 1am and ran across a saturn and a semi stuck in the median. The snow crews hadn't even started clearing yet. Of course being the good Okie I am i stopped and helped. I pulled the little Saturn out with no problem. found a good solid spot and jumped across the median and asked ther semi driver if there was anything I could do to help, He asked if i had a chain and of course we all carry our recovery gear being avide wheelers, Then he asked if i could pull him out.......Took a look at his situation... 16 of his 18 wheels were off the pavement buried in the snow, The trailer tires were down in the ditch of the median, his truck was facing west in the east bound lane, the right drive tires had dug runts into the frozen dirt his left drives were just spinning on the ice, the only tires that was on pavement were his front stear tires. I chuckled told him I didnt think that I had enough weight.....but it never hurts to try....so we threw the chain around his front axle and through my A-arm, Put the lil KJ in four low and reverse, after a few good tugs the big beast started to actually move to my amazement! I gave it more throttle all four wheels spinning and in a few minutes the monster was freed from its icy prison. I even stuck around and helped him get the thing turned the right way. When it was all done i asked the driver if he was empty he said nope 38,000lbs of chicken back there.

On the way home i thought of that dodge ram ad on tv with the 18wheeler stuck in the tunnel, and how it showed that ram giving all it had on dry pavement to free that truck, looked at my wife, smiled, and bragged about how impressed I was.... Her reply....Great how long am i going to hear about this....lol

Oh yea the snow crews ended up driving by and never stopped to even offer help....

You should check your A-arm for any deformity just to be safe, ball joints too for that matter. Cool story! That trucker must have known all he needed was a little extra grunt. :)

You used the lower A-arm to pull a semi out? Not to point this out, but if you are an avid wheeler, why didnt you/why dont you have tow hooks or a hitch? :? :)

Sounds cool none the less..

I did mention i have a wife and 2yo child.....no extra money for those... I have a larger hook that fits in the holes of the subframe but i did not have it with me last night.

A-arm is fine LBJ about to be replaced with the recall, It was a great testimony to the KJ too!!! Just wish I had more proof....but if i did have pics someone would say great photoshop job....

I would have gotten my wife a cab and told her to go to the closest store and BUY a camera! Picture always aid in these kind of storys. I have a dig camera in my KJ at all times, especially for accidents!

My concrete mixer weighs in around 35,000 emty. With 10 yds. of crete on it at about 40,000 that's 75,000 + lbs. When I get stuck on a job site it takes a good size dozer to pull me out.

Yet they had that "testimonial" on the jeep web site about the KJ that pulled the semi free in MI....

I didnt hear about that testimonial....I know how the whole thing sounds far fetched but it did happen, I dont know if I just got extreeeemly lucky or what but the KJ did it and I will forever be impressed, my father has been a truck driver for many years and i would have never even thought the KJ would have done it. I even told the wife as I got in...this aint going to work but at least we are trying.....

(In a former life) some years back I ran scateboards (flatbeds) all over the lower 48 and got into some real spots that I never thought that I would get out of. A lot of times if you slide off the road and then start to spin, due to traction, weight, HOT tires etc. a semi will be really stuck in that one spot due to some sort of melting in that one spot. A lot of times all you need is a little tug and as soon as you are moving you can go. Trust me I have been "stuck" before, thinking that I would need a wrecker and some little farm tractor or smaller 4 wheel drive pick up got me out and going again. Not to rain on your parade there Carnutcertifies you did good and any one driving by were talking about it all night no doubt. So get some good spots to hook on to and keep on helping those truckers!

tommud...Pretty much what my dad said.. He too is a truck driver, I just think it pretty amazing that i was able to budge him enough to get him over that spot. I was really glad I could help him out and get him on his way. Plus it also allows for the bragging rights, you know Look at what I did type of thing...Plus it was pretty cool when the Wrangler drove by....

Saber....I hear what your saying but my lil boy would fuss if I did that he is a music fanatic. He likes the beat. I dont turn it up when he is in the KJ, and he knows when i pull into the drive at the end of the day.
