Hey folks. I have been running Rusty's lift for about 30k miles now and developed a horrible clunking noise in the driver side front. My neighbor, who is an excellent mechanic, helped me out and we busted down the front end to see what had happened. It turns out, the lock nut on top of the coil-over shock had backed off and the dust cover was banging around. We slapped it on the spring compressor, tightenend the nut and slapped it all back together in no time. We got to talking and realized that we could easily install these lift kits on KJ's at his work's shop on the weekends. So, if you need a lift installed he will help us (or practically do it all) for $150 an install. Considering that it really isn't easy to find a place that will do it and if you take it to somewhere to get it done, you are looking at much more than $150. It really isn't a bad deal. I had 4wheel parts do mine for about $250 (and only becasue they owed me for something else) and they neglected to torque everything to specs (which might be why that nut backed off in the first place). Okay everyone, who's in? Nice info, but I think this should've been posted in the Lonestar LOST section. I don't think those in other countries, Alaska, Maine, Washington, Hawaii, or far away places needed to know this.....unless he is selling lifts for those passing through. |
