Does anyone know the sizes of the Dana 30a and Chrysler 8.25" pinion nuts? Are they very large? I need to buy a few tools, maybe sockets, to do my regear.

I dunno, but Randy's has been really helpful in my pursuit of 4:10. If none of the folks here know the answer, give them a call.

Hey Gris, Randy's says that the D30 TJ Master Install Kit will work with 02-03(04???) Libertys. This should help you with your 02. If what they say is correct, all of us 05-07 guys are stuck piecing together our own kit as I've had to do.

I dunno anymore. Every day brings new and conflicting reports. One of my favorite methods of cutting through the BS is to call the same place multiple times asking different people the same questions to see what happen. Randy's is failing the test. Let me rephrase that. They are really helpful for getting known information such as part numbers and stuff about the rear. It's just the front diff that they are loosing my faith about.

I ordered a set of Yukon 4:10s and the master kit for the 8.25 from http://www.schaefersringandpinion.com for right around $250 total. Same gut that was selling a DTT for 320.

If they work or not, or if the guy is even still in business or not is unknown. I'll find out if /when I get the stuff.

I've also been working closely with Al. He's been a huge help with the whole thing.

I'm thinking the pinion nut on my '06 is 1 3/16". It should be noted that you should use a new pinion nut everytime you take it off. Mine is getting a new pinion seal since it's decided to leak everywhere since about the 600 mile mark.

Elwenil, is that for the 8.25"? The ZJ people are telling me that the ZJ D30 pinion nut is 1-1/8". Thanks for warning me about replacing the nuts, I'm actually ordering a spare for the setup process.

Yes, it is for the Corporate 8 1/4" axle. Most ring and pinion install kits will come with a new pinion nut. Because of the pinion flange that this 8 1/4" uses, I'm not sure if just any old nut will fit.

I took the one I have on the shelf out in the shop and tried to find a socket to fit it. 1 1/4" seems to fit, but it's a loose fit. I couldn't locate a 1 3/16" socket since most of the guys have left early and locked up their tools.

I just measured my new D30a pinion nut with calipers and it is in fact 1-1/8" (a little over 28mm). I'll have to buy a new socket as my 28mm is just the tiniest bit too small.
