Post subject: | Shop Assembly Diagrams for front Diff...time to put in gears |
Can someone post a link or email me a section from a KJ manual that contains a diagram of the front differential including instructions on its removal and disassembly? I would really appreciate it. I am looking into dropping in some 4:10 gears and a LSD and do not have a manual. We have shop access and the mechanical skills but just want to make sure that we know what we are getting into before busting this thing down. My email address is mrclortho@yahoo.com |

Other than for torque specs, the factory service manual is useless for tearing down the diffs. Check out this guide, it's the best one I've seen: http://www.pirate4x4.com/articles/tech/ ... Gear_Setup |

Chilton or Hayden manuals are only around $20. If you got the money for the 4.10s, spend a little more for the info to maintain your rig. |

The factory service manual generally has the best information of the three but it's $100. ![]() |

That is a good article. OK, I was just hoping that someone had that section electronically that they could send me. The internal diff and gear setup is no problem. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't run into anything 'special' during the tear down. |

Forgot to mention, you'll need a Chrysler Bearing Preload Wrench (Miller# C-4164 or OTC# 6602) for the rear. |
